I'm not sure if I would/could call this a nostalgic suggestion but I've been on a space fit recently and I had to give this
a shot.
Space begins to occur at 1,000y under the cubic chunk guidelines and extends indefinitely.
The space dimension- there is only 1 method to get into space. Building your way up. A slime block with a redstone block
and a piston should be enough to make an upward moving vehicle.
The man that gravity forgot- While space walking you will not be bound by gravity and will not be able to jump nor run.
Instead jumping can be used to increasw/decrease elevation depending on the direction you are looking
and running simply increase your speed slightly. The controls would be similar to flying just slowed down.
The view- A magnificent view of the Minecraft world, it's moon and sun. Tons of stars and distant planets that range from small orange crispy rocks to big multicolored gas giants.
Shooting stars, comets and asteroids. All encompassed by a pitch black veil.
Mobs:
Giant Space Squids- These squid-like creatures are 4x4x2 blocks with 2 to 3 block long tenticles. They are a pale
white and have orange and pink spots. They have 1 big blue eye.
They have 14 health and are a passive mob. When killed they drop 2-6 experience orbs, 0-2 glowstone dust and 1-4 ink sacs.
They can sometimes go through any portal set up but will quickly die in the overworld and nether.
They spawn rarely.
Space Villager- These humanoid-like creatures are 2x1 blocks. They have pale grey skin and 2 big black eyes.
They have 8 health and are passive. If attacked they will promptly flee. They can be interacted with and will
offer various ores in trade for flowers and seeds. They have no drops when killed.
They spawn seldomly but in groups of 3-5.
Space Golem- These humanoid-like creatures are 2.5/3x1 blocks. They have a rough dark green skin and 2 big black
eyes. They have 14 health and do 4 damage. They are a neutral mob and become aggressive if they or little green men
are attacked. They drop various types of flowers when killed, 1-3 types, 2-4 each and 4 experience orbs. They spawn in any
area with more than 5 little green men.
Space Jellyfish- These jellyfish like creatures are 2x1 blocks and have small tenticles. They are bright yellow and semi-transparent.
They are a passive mob and have 5 health. They drop 0-2 glowstone dust and 0-1 gold nuggets. They spawn regularly.
Gear Giant- This mob is an extremely rare find and resembles a machine more or less. It has 22 health and deals 5 damage.
It is hostile and will often attack little green men. When killed it drops a rainbow flower and 2-7 stardust.
Mini Creepers- These 1x1 entities look like a pale blue creeper but make no mistake, they are powerful.
They have 6 health and will explode upon contact with the player 2 seconds after contact. The radius and splash
damage can be equated to a charge creeper. When killed they drop 2-7 experience orbs and rarely drop a dark
energy shard. They spawn as often as normal hostile mobs and are afraid of space jellyfish.
Wraith- These entities are 2x2 hostile mobs and cannot be harmed by conventional weapons. They have 3 health
and deal 2 damage. The only ways to hurt them are by standing above them or below them. They become confused
and begin attacking themselves. They drop 1-3 dark energy shards and on rare occasions they drop a potion of
invisibility. They spawn semi-occasionally and in groups of 1-3
The asteroids:
asteroids are common place and can be comprised of any ore and stone or cobble stone as well as ice The further out you go
the higher the probability of asteroids being made fully of certain ores like iron and diamond. They also carry stardust
on very rare occasions.
Stardust can be used to brighten torches, craft a star for display or be added to potions.
When added to a potion stardust will revert any negative effect based potion
Potions of weakness are turned into potions of strength
potions of poison are turned into potions of regeneration
potions of slowness are turned into potions of swiftness
potions of harming are turned into potions of health
Potions of invisibility are turned into potions of night vision
Dark Matter-
dark matter can be found all around you, and in you for that matter, it is nrmally unmineable except with a gold pickaxe
enchanted with silk touch. Dark matter will take 25 seconds to break when mined.Any other pickaxe will simply swing straight
through it. After being mined it cannot be placed
like a normal block, instead these can be crafted into extraordinary things.
The Dark Matter Teleporter-
Crafted with 6 iron blocks on either side of the crafting grid and 3 dark matter blocks in the center. (I know there is a recipe
creater but my 360 is not capable of using it nor transferring the results here, sorry)
The dark matter teleporter can move the player from one place to another in a mere few seconds. There is some
consequence to using this as it will cause 15 seconds of nausea and 25 seconds of weakness 1.
They can be used to travel between dimension.
Dark Matter Core-
Crafted with 8 dark matter in the shape of a box. The dark matter core can be placed next to any redstone wire ore device
and power it for an indefinite length in one direction. Dark matter cores absorb redstone signal by placing a redstone torch
on it.
Plasma Furnace-
Crafted with 8 dark matter surrounding a furnace. Plasma furnaces are great for smelting ores but the heat will devour
any type of food. They cook at 4x the speed and only use dark matter as a fuel source. Each dark matter block burns
or smelts 5.5 items..
Dak Energy Shards- These can be used to craft dark matter blocks by placing 9 in the crafting grid at a crafting bench.
The Graphting Bench- This is crafted by surrounding a crafting bench with 8 dark energy shards. This work bench
allows you to swap the sticks in tool recipes for dark energy crystals. Along with a galactic style skin it increases the
durability of any tool by 200 uses but makes that tool 40% harder to enchant, increasing the level cap at enchantment
tables from level 30 to 42 for dark energy tools.
Biomes:
The space biome- This biome makes up 70-75 % of the space dimension and is largely comprised of dark matter with
stars and various sized planets orbiting some stars. The ratio of non-planetary stars to planetary stars are 1/1500.
It sounds like very little but considering the amount of stars in space, it is more than generous.
The solar system biome- Usually comprised of 1 to 3 stars and 2 to 9 planets these biomes are where more abundant
forms of mobs can be found.
The galaxy biome- A massive biome that contains millions of stars and thousands of solar system biomes. These
biomes are usually host to a block hole biome found in the very center.
Block hole biomes- These biomes are fairly large and cause nearby blocks and entities to funnel into them.
Once attracted to a block hole, any block is broke into a block drop and sucked up. Entities caught in a block hole
are instantly killed when sucked in.
The gasious cloud biome- Generally a inhospitable biome comprised of cloud like gasses that are often toxic to any
entity. They are a sight to behold however. Gasses can come in any color and the biome is generally large to
overwhelmingly huge.
The quasar biome- Quasars are a biome in which nearby blocks are being pulled into the center. As blocks gather
it begins to form a new planet. You can aid in planet creation or disrupt it. No mobs will spawn in quasar biomes
up until it becomes a planet.
The Asteroid belt biome- Comprised of large amounts of asteroids often found on the outer rims
of solar systems but smaller belts can be found around planets of any size and are usually compacted
with ice in these rings. Planets have a 1% chance to have a ring. .25% for 2 and .1125% for 3 rings.
Stars, dwarf stars and supernovas are sometimes found throughout space. Dwarf stars are far more common and
make up 60-80% of stars.
To exit the space dimension you must re-enter into the overworld. Preferably the way you came.
I'm okay with the suggestion, except the concept of space helmets and the "rockets". Even though they aren't actual rockets, they don't seem fitting. I would preferably enjoy this to be some sort of floating terrain in the sky though. Working with the cubic chunks suggestion, if this spawning wayyy in the sky, I would prefer it. Then players should build upwards to get to it. Seems more minecrafty to me. Would be a loophole around that "No more dimensions" tweet. Half support I guess, until further edits.

Your mobs seem very well explained, and I like the villager trading aspect of the little green men, though to me this doesn't relate to the other dimensions of minecraft, I'll list below:
New blocks: Both the End, Overworld and Nether are comprised predominantly of unique blocks, which give the player reason to shuttle between dimensions and improve their builds. Other than the stardust item, this dimension is made up of overworld blocks. Building: From what I can gather, this dimension is mostly empty, with a few asteroids? I may be getting a wrong impression of size here, but this will offer very little space to build, whereas the 3 current dimensions provide ample base-building platforms. The View: Whilst I can get behind the End being visible from space (at a stretch), the nether is quite different. The nether is a completely closed cave system, so would not be visible from space.
Increased difficulty: Both the End and Nether have mobs and terrain that makes life more difficult than the Overworld. Pigmen, blazes, ghasts, dragons and endermen make venturing out of your dimension a combat intensive experience. Plus, you have epic drops, lava falls or the ability to literally fall out of the world, making navigation much more scary. Aside from the suffocation damage which would make naked space travel impossible, this dimension seems very peaceful, with very little that can hurt you.
Also, from a historical note, this is reminiscent of the old Sky Dimension, which later grew into the End we know today, a space-like dimension in itself.
The ideas you've presented here are reasonable but small in number, this suggestion looks more like a biome than whole dimension. To flesh out a full dimension you'll need unique blocks, & items which offer a unique functionality (not just reskins of overworld blocks & items) and terrain to navigate and explore.
Good start, but not worthy of it's own dimension yet.
Yes, I fully support this idea, If minecraft were to expand into space, it would add a whole new depth to the game. Bringing exploration on a whole new level, maybe we could even have a giant space worm, like in star wars.

Although the idea is very good, the names for the mobs seem to be a bit "childish". You need to make the names more serious if you want people to take mobs seriously. There should also be another way to get down back to the overworld. Maybe a naturally generating block that allows you to warp back to your spawnpoint? Also, you should lose 1/2 heart every 20 seconds while in space due to the fact that there is no oxygen and it is extremely cold.

I had thought about the giant worm bit but I wasn't quite fully sold, thus I made the giant space squid. My only main

The idea reminded me a bit of this
I think it'd be nice.
OK ok we have afew nay-sayers. That's fine. I chose the names I did because of their simplicity really. Look at skeletons,
zombies, villagers, iron and snow golems etc etc. Most minecraft mobs are named based on what they are. Even the
Ender Dragon.
As for 2.0. I am still not overly fond of the topic because it seems to generate too much negative responses.
For the 2 that said it's too out there, which is fine. I just offer that it could be interesting to explore space. The dimension
thing is just the best name I had for it, it's not an actual different dimension but rather an extension of the minecraft
overworld.
For those who have supported thank you very much! All your comments are appreciated.
Before I forger, I had suggested a form of a rocket but it was dismissed due to sheer infeasibility. Rather leaving the
player to build their way up. Come to think of it I'm gonna get rid of the portal since the space realm isn't actually
a dimension.
