Brewing has always been tedious, and not very rewarding. This is just a small suggestion, but I think it would be neat.
Like from smelting in furnaces, brewing would give you XP as well. As for the amount, I don't know any numbers, but it should maybe give double the
amount of furnaces. It would only give XP once per brew, no matter if you brewed 1, 2 or 3 Potions. It also wouldn't give XP when brewing with redstone
or glowstone, as you can do that multiple times.
In addition to that, there could be a way to brew bottles o' enchanting. You would start like any other potion, with nether wart, and then maybe add a gold ingot. If you have other Ideas instead of the Gold, please tell me!
Again, this is just a small Idea and I think it would be a nice addition to the game.
Please leave your feedback and further ideas down below!
Support! I think it should use diamonds because they are rare, same with bottles of enchanting, and since some players find stacks it wouldn't be too OP.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
Earning Experience Points via brewing potions sounds like a good idea, and should be more rewarding with getting a few points. But as for brewing Bottle 'O Enchanting, it's not a good idea. These are powerful items, giving Experience Points which provide enchantments onto your tools, and they can get really powerful if you're careful with them. Overall, earning a small portion of XP is fine, but not brewing Bottle 'O Enchanting.
Support! I think it should use diamonds because they are rare, same with bottles of enchanting, and since some players find stacks it wouldn't be too OP.
Who in their right mind would EVER waste diamonds just to get a measly 9-33 XP (3-11 XP per bottle)? That's only 2-7 normal mob kills and hundreds of times less than what I get on a daily basis while playing normally (the 2,000 coal ore that I mine in a typical session gives me 2,000 XP; I've gotten over 8,000 XP overall on at least one occasion)!
This is sort of like trading 3-4 diamonds to get one emerald, then spending 15 or so emeralds to get a chestplate - that's 45-60 diamonds when you could have used just 8! By all rights you should be able to trade emeralds for diamonds (and before anybody says that is OP, you can basically do that by buying diamond gear, and the repair changes in 1.8 means that individual diamonds are no longer as valuable (prior to 1.8 highly enchanted gear was often only repairable with individual diamonds) when you can fully repair anything with a new item).
In other words, using blocks of anything is really just not worth it at all; even a coal block would give you an average of 9 XP just by mining the coal it requires!
Or in simpler terms, bottle o' enchanting are not worthwhile period - never mind being able to brew them - they just don't give enough XP to be worthwhile. The only time I've ever traded for them was only for fun, and I never used them; and does anybody really spend 3-11 emeralds to get them on a regular basis? Just make a mob grinder to get endless amounts of XP.
1.8 devalued XP even more than it already was due to the fact that ores and mobs give you so much and it is easy to make XP farms (I've never had the need to build XP farms, yet easily enchant even modded gear that was designed to be expensive in a few days of playing, and very easily keep up with repair costs afterwards, never mind the ridiculousness that is diamond gear, a big reason why I modded in a rarer and more expensive material since diamond gear is too cheap and diamonds are too easy to find to be exciting anymore) by reducing enchanting and repair costs (even as you have to make new gear now since renaming no longer fixes costs - by comparison, a Sharpness V, Knockback II, Unbreaking III diamond sword, as I've always used, costs 35 levels for a 50% repair with two diamonds (not a new sword, 2 diamonds, or 4 for a full repair, using twice the diamonds of a new sword) - far more expensive, in terms of both XP per use and uses per diamond, than even the very last repair possible in 1.8. When enchanting you can take advantage of the fact that you can see one enchantment, and know that Sharpness means that you will NOT get Smite or Bane of Arthropods, and so on; and even if you spend 1 lapis/level to reset the table with a junk item you only spend about 1/8 the XP that you spent before 1.8 to get a completely unknown level 30 enchantmnet).
Earning some XP by brewing sounds fine though; I mean, XP is already so abundant and easy to get (like food) it can't hurt; they even added XP to villager trading in 1.8 and trading is likely done more often than brewing.
The idea of gaining XP when brewing potions is brilliant, but I think Bottles O' Enchanting shouldn't have the ability to be brewed. Semi-half-medium-somewhat-average Support.
It seems like a lot of people find brewable Bottles o' Enchanting too OP. But they really aren't. Have you ever used them in a survival world? Even without any levels, one bottle doesn't even fill half of the bar. I think a lapis block would be a bit too expensive, but one lapis is too cheap. It would have to be sonething in between.

One bottle may not make a difference, but having a stack of Bottle 'O Enchanting can get you 2-6 levels in no time. And having them brewable in any way shape or form (no matter how hard they are to brew) you will earn a lot more than what I listed. Also, it would make earning XP from other sources, such as mob farms, smelting, and mining certain ores, less rewarding since there is now a way to make XP instead.

I kind of like the ideas in this thread. The only problem that I have is that gold is kind of common, meaning that players can make A LOT of EXP bottles. It should be raised to a Gold Block, or a diamond.

XP should be from brewing. In my opinion.
The gold ingot would be OP for brewing, but maybe a gold block, maybe. Or even a lapis block.

I think a gold block would be a bit expensive, but the Lapis Block is a good Idea, as it's already used in enchanting!

I give Mostly Support, since I think the recipe should be a block of lapis, so it's a bit more balanced.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

The first 5 levels require very small amounts of XP(smaller than 12), and Bottle o' Enchanting can drop XP orbs that can be worth up to 11XP.
Also, Bottle o' Enchanting has the possibility of dropping multiple XP orbs worth 11XP.
