I've seen some suggestions in here for transmuting one mineral to another, via various ways. I have not seen an idea, however, for a specialized device in which to do it.
So, I present to you the Transmuter!
I don't know how to craft it. It should probably be expensive. Maybe:
= Iron Block
= Gold Block
Or something. The crafting recipe isn't important, however. The important part is the "big idea"
Each block type has a value, from 1 to 256. Cobble would have a value of 1 or something. Diamond Blocks would be 256. In between, each thing has a value. It isn't important for the player to know any item's values. The Transmuter could, in fact, show the items' values fairly easily.
When you right click a Transmuter, it would have a crafting-table like interface:
[] [] = []
[] []
You could put anything in the left boxes you want, up to 64x4=256 blocks. On the right will appear, once you have enough stuff in the left, the item you want to make. For example, to turn 256 cobble blocks into one block of diamond, you would have:
=
(Assume the number "64" is on each cobble, and the diamond block has a "1" or no number)
When you take the diamond block all the cobble disappears, just like a crafting table.
I don't know the best way to pick what to transmute into. You could be a hard-nose and make it be whatever is in the middle of the transmutation box. Or, you could have an extra slot to put what you want to get (So, you can't get a diamond block from the transmuter until you have a diamond block to put in it. Making a new diamond block would not use up the old diamond block, just the cobblestone or whatever you used).
yes, this makes sense, supposing of course you can give each block a value according to its rarity, since it would be pointless to give wood a value of 100, and Redstone a value of 10. because then no one would ever mine redstone and prefer to chop wood instead of mining for redstone, then theres the problem where you make wood lets say .00005 value and redstone 100 no one would use the transmuter table since it would be easier to just mine straight down until you found redstone.
but supposing someone manages to give each block a rightful value that would not allow the player to cheat there way into having a diamond castle, but also make the transmuter useful without abusing the exchange of minerals. it would be a good idea.
That's essentially what I'm thinking. Maybe even 1-256 is not a good range but I don't know. Let's say you wanted to build a diamond castle 10 blocks tall and 20x20 (Fairly small). Just for the walls (ignore doors/windows for simplicity) that's 200 x 4 = 800 blocks of diamond. Granted, that's impossible in the real world, but it IS possible to mine 256x800 = 204800 blocks of cobblestone.
However, if you mined over 200,000 blocks of cobblestone to make your castle I would never, EVER accuse you of cheating :smile.gif:
