Voxel is a portmanteau for "volume" and "pixel" where pixel is a combination of "picture" and "element".
Element Blocks
Element Blocks make up minecraft blocks. They are 1/8th the size of a normal block. Most naturally occurring blocks are made up of these Element Blocks. (Dirt, grass, stone, cobble, wood, etc.)
To present you with an image: Imagine a dirt block cut horizontally into two blocks. This leaves you with two half slabs of dirt. Now imagine cutting each of those slabs into fours leaving you with 8 small cubes. These cubes are the Element Blocks.
They are identical to the block of which they are an element.
When 8 Element Blocks are assembled into a single Minecraft block, they become a single block rather than 8 separate elements.
To harvest Element Blocks from a normal Minecraft block requires an enchanted shovel or other tool. Harvesting an Element which is already in element form would not require a special enchantment.
Element Blocks can spawn naturally. Landscapes would appear much more dynamic without loosing the blocky look we all love about Minecraft.
New species of plant life could incorporate the Element Blocks. For example, Oak Wood Element blocks along with Leaf Elements could be arranged to build small-trunked trees, which could spawn naturally as ‘Young Oak Trees’ or something entirely different and new!
New crafting recipes are waiting to be created using these Elements! A Stone Element, for example, could be called simply Rock Block. These could be used to craft tools and other items.
Building designers will find these Element Blocks to be enormously useful in their projects!
I really think that this addition could be the “next big thing” for minecraft!

Wow! There really is hardly anything truly 'original' in this game anymore! I love it!
I don't know that I've added anything to the Octoblock idea. We happened to just land on the same page!
I will say, though, that I prefer the name Element Block to Octoblock.
Thanks for feedback!

Then the suggestion is redundant.
Acknowledged above.
Redundant comment is redundant.
Thanks

The overall suggestion is pretty redundant (just Octoblocks, but with a different name), and would cause more lag to the game. No support.
Right. Sorry for the redundancy. I'll go lend my support for Octoblocks. Thanks.
