Normally I don't like suggestions like these much, as it would take too much to add, but if it is it's own separate block that would work a bit better.

Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.

To answer those that are wondering if side slabs are their own block, or if they stack with slabs, the answer is "different item."
Side slabs will not stack with regular slabs, seeing each variant of a side slab should have it's own ID (different than the regular slabs).

Can someone here tell me how implementing this as a seperate block from normal slabs, therefore adding unnecessary inventory stuffing to those who wish to use vertically placeable slabs and normal slabs is better than just adding that ability to the existing slabs? Thanks in advance.
Also, with Mojang's many years of experience with programming, plus the fact that this is actually more than just adding this ability to normal slabs, how do you know that it would take too much time to add when compared to adding the same thing, but also adding completely new blocks for that?
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

The reasoning behind this is mainly the way blocks are coded, and making it need to have a fair amount of change in an existing mechanic which seems very small. If it is it's own separate block it would be easier to place, and would just need a few new models, as opposed to changing a bunch.
