Paint is something simple, it's like colored water.
Surround 3 of the same colored dye around a water bucket to get a bucket of paint with a certain color. Doesn't work if you mix the color of the Dye. However, if you add another dye color after crafting the bucket of Paint with the color, you can mix the colors, and get something really cool. Once you mix the paint, you cannot get the dye back.
Paint buckets don't stack.
Physics work the same like water, it flows quickly. It can put out fires too. When placing the bucket of paint, you can get something like colored water. When you remove the paint, it would remove the flowing paint, but create a temporary left over color on the surface of the source block. It can disappear after some time. In the nether, paint will evaporate just like water, and create a temporary left over color like before.
When a flowing paint touches another color of another flowing paint, it would mix together. So example, red colored paint and yellow colored paint will mix as orange. Then, if you mix something like red and white, you will get pink. And so on. But it gets interesting, you can mix the colors of paint like you mix the color of dye on leather armor. So you can get really cool colors altogether.
When a source block of paint mixes with another color source block of paint, it will mix together. Example, when a red paint is placed down, and then a blue paint is added on the source block, it will flow as purple colored paint. When the source block is removed, the paint in the bucket would turn to purple colored paint.
Just like normal water, you can put paint in a cauldron. When you right click a leather armor without dye in the cauldron, it would dye it the certain color of paint in the cauldron. You can also get bottled paint, by right clicking the source block of water or cauldron. When used in brewing, it can add a few seconds to the time on the potion. (Maybe like... 10-15 seconds.) And also, paints can create an infinite water source.
Paints can also be used to generate cobblestone like water, but it would create cobblestone with color on it. The color will disappear after time. When mined, it is just normal cobblestone.
What do you think?
EDIT 1 - Made it easier to read, but there is still a lot of stuff...
EDIT 2 - Suggestion made by DesinitDraco:
When a sponge is placed in paint, it would absorb the paint like a sponge absorbs water. This sponge though, would absorb the color, and create a colored sponge. This can be used for decoration. It would use the normal 16 colors of dye, like the wool or stained glass.
Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
They are pretty old threads that I don't want to bump, and also they are not related to what I suggested. Please read the whole thing before you say that

Well, you sort of got me there. But there are still things in your suggestion that also have some redundancy. The colored water for example. That would be awesome to see, but adds more complications to things. There would need to be all this code for all this colored water and proper mixing, and the way water can flow and the infinite possibilities of the flowing...
I understand that using the criticism of "it would be too hard to code" isn't very valid (believe me, I read the "for the critics" thread), but it seems like a fartload of coding and content just for these liquid dyes. On a positive note, this is still better than most threads about paint.

Paint is something simple, it's like colored water. I think it should be a little bit more different than that.
Surround 3 of the same colored dye around a water bucket to get a bucket of paint with a certain color. Why not one of the same color? Doesn't work if you mix the color of the Dye. However, if you add another dye color after crafting the bucket of Paint with the color, you can mix the colors, and get something really cool. Once you mix the paint, you cannot get the dye back. Yeah, that would be good for teaching people to think before doing something.
Paint buckets don't stack. Why not? I don't see anything unbalanced about stacking multiple paint buckets of the same type.
Physics work the same like water, it flows quickly. It can put out fires too. When placing the bucket of paint, you can get something like colored water. When you remove the paint, it would remove the flowing paint, but create a temporary left over color on the surface of the source block. It can disappear after some time. In the nether, paint will evaporate just like water I don't think paint in general evaporates... I think it should just create dry paint. It just makes more sense., and create a temporary left over color like before.
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

While it would be interesting to see, this will add way to much content for Paint to work properly. There's the physics behind Paint which is similar with flowing or still Water, then there are more complications using it among Cauldrons, mixing it with other Paint to get tinted colours, and colouring and tinting every block in Minecraft.
This is the problem with over-suggested Paint suggestions, they have no limits blocks and other miscellaneous (depending on the suggestion) and colouring combinations, which would end up having to much to code (I cannot believe I'm saying this) or provide to much content in order for paint to function properly.
This is way too much for a single feature. Paint would be pretty cool, but there's a lot of unnecessary things that don't need to be here. Revise the suggestion to be more simple, then I'll probably support.
This is way too much for a single feature. Revise the suggestion to be smaller, and remove some of the unnecessary things. This will make the idea much better.

No support.
So are you saying that the paint shouldn't tint the blocks? Yeah, probably there would be too much put into that, so would that be better if it were to be removed?

No support; too much for 1 feature.
How do you want it to be more simple? I made it simple, I just made it detailed. Maybe it's a bit too detailed for you? What feature would you like removed here?

When you remove the paint, it would remove the flowing paint Kinda like snow, but create a temporary left over color on the surface of the source block. It can disappear after some time. In the nether, paint will evaporate just like water, and create a temporary left over color like before Cool.
When a flowing paint touches another color of another flowing paint, it would mix together. So example, red colored paint and yellow colored paint will mix as orange. Then, if you mix something like red and white, you will get pink That's a really good idea. And so on. But it gets interesting, you can mix the colors of paint like you mix the color of dye on leather armor. So you can get really cool colors altogether.

Just like normal water, you can put paint in a cauldron. When you right click a leather armor without dye in the cauldron, it would dye it the certain color of paint in the cauldron Now that's really unique. You can also get bottled paint, by right clicking the source block of water or cauldron. When used in brewing, it can add a few seconds to the time on the potion. (Maybe like... 10-15 seconds.) And also, paints can create an infinite water source Okay, for bottled paint, i would like to see it act like spray paint, not a potion enhancer.
Paints can also be used to generate cobblestone like water, but it would create cobblestone with color on it. The color will disappear after time. When mined, it is just normal cobblestone Would like spray paint to do the same thing.
What do you think?
Overall, the idea is great, but i would like paint permanent unless it (a) rains (b) get's water dumped on it
I could make a thread about just the sponges, but unless I stole his idea or linked back to this one, it would be completely out of context and no one would know what I am talking about, so as long as they credit me for the idea, I am perfectly fine with leaving it to them to add to their thread.
Actually that sounds like a pretty cool idea! I forgot about the sponges. So I will edit that later, thank you
As long as you credit me, everything should be fine.
But what I just realized is blocks don't have the same color overlay feature as the Leather Armor as the colors the sponge could absorb would most likely be limited to the 16-bit colors the game uses for the 16 dye used for the glass, hardened clay, wool, and etc.
One problem about mixing, there are 2 sets of primary colors, actual primary colors and painting colors, actual colors are red, green, and blue. Other than that, I like it.

I could also see possibility for having paint absorbed by a Sponge change the color of the sponge as well!
It's be a nice way of creating colored sponges to create a 'coral reef' of sorts.
Now that's a neat idea worth making your own thread about (in my humble opinion)
