I don't quite understand why Minecraft hasn't come out with an update for a new enchantment. From what I recall they haven't even added a new enchantment in the past year, year and a half? Correct me if I'm wrong, but... don't you think it's time for Minecraft to bring out a new enchantment? I personally think they should create a new auto-smelting enchantment to pickaxes, and shovels. I personally think that this kind of enchantment has been a long and awaiting enchantment that the Minecraft community has wanted for awhile. Now it's the choice of whether Minecraft wants to follow throught with this idea or not? The world may never know... or will they?
I do believe someone else had suggested this. But anyways this is vague and considered OP, imo. Ready made ingots make the challenge of finding ore and smelting it useless. I see no balance with this new enchantment anyways. Also, Mojang has recently implemented a new enchant named Buoy Strider. Besides that, they won't always have to add new enchantments every year or update.

Isn't Forutne really OP too? I don't see why this is different. By the time you have an enchantment table smelting isn't anything but a waste of time, as you would already have tons of coal, and/or lava buckets from the Nether.
I'd have to agree agree with you Alex! I Think that they should implement an enchantment like auto-smelting on a pick, but make it have a very rare percentage of getting it. The enchantment would also make it more convenient as Alex had brought up, with having to smelt your ores. I personally think that they should bring this into the game but have it be a very rare occurrence on a pick.
Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.
The rule is that it is redundant if an older thread had been posted on in the last 30 days.
I'm not sure whether to support this.
My reasoning behind this is not rule breaking, more just to show that those threads died out, and evidently were not added to the game.

I sort of suggested this, but instead with Coal Tools. An Enchantment would make such an overpowered thing less abundant, so I give you a huge support bigger than all of the universes in the entire multiverse.
Thank you Gamecubeguy214 for the support! Really appreciate it.
Hello, and welcome the our demonstration of selective reading! On a more serious note, reply to critics... You have been ignoring them...
For instance, how do we make this not OP due to lack of need of fuel?

Because fuel is super common. Coal is everywhere, is fairly efficient, and can be gotten with next to no risk. Wood isn't as efficient but it's virtually everywhere and can be made into charcoal which is just as good as coal. Smelting things isn't actually hard, either, you just stick coal and some other thing in a furnace and wait a while. And there are other things (albeit not too frequently used) that require fuel so this wouldn't obsolete furnaces.
This enchantment might be powerful, but it has nothing on Fortune, Power V, Protection IV, Sharpness/Smite V, et cetera. Only reason it could be considered overpowered is because it lets gold and iron be affected by Fortune, which is OP enough thanks to boosting your diamond supply to the point where you no longer need diamonds extremely quickly.

You also have lava buckets. Once you make a Nether Portal you have so much of it you never run out.
Actually, they have added an armor enchantment known as "Depth Strider", which was first implemented in an update that was released almost half a year ago, but, nonetheless, the idea is still good. Seems like a really nice enchantment. Full support.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

Well there more aspects of the game to think about than just enchantments, but sure, I could go for a new one if it's balanced.

This idea is very redundant. This would dampen the use for furnaces, as well as negating the item-to-smelted item XP you can get from furnaces because this idea knocks out the middle man.
Also, just because something being wanted for a long time doesn't magically make an idea good.
Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
Why do people find having to smelt the ores challenging? It adds no challenge, it just adds tedium. I don't want to wait for my ores to smelt, what difficulty does this add? It's not like iron needs to be gathered almost instantly or else all hope of survival is gone. Sure you can make multiple furnaces to speed up mass-smelting time, but you need to gather stone, which can be considered adding difficulty, but it easily counter-reacted by the fact that stone is most likely the 2nd most abundant resource, beat by Netherrack. And the sources to start the fire(Smelting process) Is extremely abundant, ranging from coal you see in almost every cave system, to charcoal from trees that are almost always nearby.
I don't see why not, as long as it's by chance, and a fairly rare enchantment.
No support.
thishas been MADE on planet minecraft:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/plugin-autosmelt/
and also,its Depth Strider
Support.
Chances are it could be out there.
And this one definitely is in the form an enchantment, a special tool, a new material, spells, machines, everything you can think of.
