I said you wouldn't have to download 1-3MB thats your generated terrain/landscape (your items are only a couple of KB)
Runescape manages to does it, and their even running the game in Java (and they have a client .exe).
I just think trading would be a cool idea, its made so many games more successful since it's introduction.

I like ths idea. The friends list could be something very useful... but i don't really agreed with the trading system... someone could just get a map that was edited to be overhelming with diamonds n just send them free to his friend that is in a Vanilla server? I don't agree with the trading idea...but the rest is all good.

Trading system seems useless unless you are trading with people who aren't your friends. You can always just drop the stuff you want to trade. If you don't trust the other person then you can drop it while standing far from them and asking the same. Then you can walk to get their stuff while they get yours.
Friends list is LONG over due. But it's not needed at the moment. The game requires a lot more content before it gets a friends list.
Good ideas but I honestly wouldn't be too happy if Notch made this a priority until after Beta is finished.
The only problem is that people could use INVedit to get tons of free diamonds and gold, and then spread their shares across Minecraft, decreasing its value.

Looks good to me, but the trading function doesn't seem to good of an idea. What about those people who hack items in? And just for kicks and grins, they trade 3 stacks of diamond blocks for dirt. That could wind up ruining the game for others. And maybe, you should have the option to go into their world of choice, like a server.
The friends system looks good, but Minecraft isn't really built for it. Seeing who is online is alright. Joining their game if it's multiplayer would be handy.
But it stops there. You would need a new chat interface to communicate in game. I agree with Piejamas, wait for the steam client. If you hate steam, then use skype or windows live, or whatever else. Steam has something no other chat client has: Right-click, join server. Steam is great. Although I really wish it didn't use IE, and really wish they didn't try to make it look so pretty. This post isn't about steam though.
About trading:
Trading over single-player saves would be stupid.
"Hey man, I'm on my first night and I just run out of torches; mobs are gonna be flooding my bathroom all night. Can I have some coal?"
"Sure bro, but my tree farm just got burnt down, and I need a few saplings."
That would never happen. It ruins the point of the game. I'll tell you what would happen.
Here have these 60 TNT I gave myself with invedit worked diligently to acquire.
And lets say I bought Minecraft for a friend who has never played it, he gets in and I give him some torches and armor.
i like this idea... although idk how inviting your friends to a single player world work, it would still be cool. also i think he should add a way to comunitcate with friends while still playing alone in single player.

This is the only suggestion thread I've never had any complaints about, so bump it so it'll get some attention.

This is one of the more well-written suggestion threads I've seen, though!

He loses his first impression of the game.
That's not a fair trade.
