After creating the thread for more jungle mobs, this idea came to me.
Zebras: Zebras are passive mobs that have 13 hearts, and can be tamed/bred with an apple, a golden apple, a hay bale, or wheat. Their AI is very similar to the horse, and they are 5% slower than a horse, and yes, you can give them horse armor. When killed, they drop raw zebra, or if burned to death... you get it. Raw zebra restores 1.5 hunger bars, while cooked zebra restores 5 hunger bars. Zebras can also spawn in plains, sunflower plains, and birch forest hills..
Hyenas: Hyenas are neutral mobs that have 11 hearts of health. They are somewhat larger than wolves, and they respond to this event in a wolf-like fashion: a mob/player trying to hurt a hyena. Hyenas can be tamed/bred with any type of meat besides rotten flesh. They require 1 to 3 meat of any kind besides rotten flesh to be tamed. They will defend you and teleport to you after taming them, but will still try to attack you (for only seven seconds, then they'll forget about it) if you try to attack them in any way, including trying to set a hyena on fire.
Elephants: Elephants are passive mobs (to players only, neutral to mobs) that can be tamed with: tall grass, wheat, hay bales, any apple variant, and pumpkin. You need to feed the elephant 2-5 of the food item, for it to be tamed. Once tamed, you can put saddles on them, by inserting the saddle in the elephant's inventory. You can also get the elephant to attack a mob, by attacking the mob yourself, only while sitting on the tamed elephant. Each elephant attack does 2.5 hearts of attack damage. The neutral/hostile mob that's attacked by an elephant will attempt to counter-attack the elephant. Now that you have a tamed elephant, and see what it can do, you might want some protection. So, here are your options: iron, gold and diamond elephant armor. These armor sets can't be crafted, but you can find them in naturally generated structures. You can also get the elephant to carry small and large chests, by inserting chest(s) into the elephant's inventory. An elephant with a normal chest carries up to 20 items, while an elephant with a large chest carries 40. Elephants are 5% slower than donkeys. The only stone-like blocks that elephants can break are netherrack. They have 27 hearts of health, btw.
Rhinoceros: Rhinoceros's are netural mobs that have 20 hearts of health. They hurt you with their tusks if you try to attack them, unless they're tamed, and they can be found in savannas as well, but they are mostly found in the plains. They can rarely be found in jungles. To an unarmored entity, a rhinoceros does 2 hearts of attack damage with each hit. They drop 3 leather and raw rhino when killed, and when burned to death... you get it. Raw rhinoceros restores 1.5 hunger bars, while cooked rhinoceros restores 5 to 5.5. Has a 60% chance of restoring 5 hunger bars, and a 40% chance of restoring 5.5. Rhinos can be tamed with tall grass or any type of tree leaf block. When tamed you can ride on them, and they are about 10% faster than a donkey.
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? I like this concept, it would be quite interesting to see these mobs in vanilla Minecraft. However, I do have a few complaints/suggestions about the animals' specifics.
These mobs shouldn't spawn too commonly (I don't want a thousand elephants running rampant in my beautiful savanna biome)
It would be really cool if the zebras spawned in herds (just like horses) and made the classic zebra sounds
NEVER EVER EVER EVEREVERmake lapis lazuli into any kind of armor or tool!!!!!!!(unless this is the Orespawn mod) It is not a metal, it is a type of stone!! A thick, heavy suit of lapis lazuli would be more than useless against a oncoming sword blow as the stone's main purpose is for jewelry and paint
Otherwise this would be really cool. I would love to be able to run over to a savanna and start riding a giant elephant. (sorry about the lapis lazuli thing, it's just a huge pet peeve of mine)

Okay, I'll take out the lapis lazuli part. But keep in mind that lapis lazuli is actually harder to scratch than iron. Lapis is worse than iron in other aspects, which is why we don't have a lot of lapis tools in real life. But minecraft isn't supposed to be entirely realistic. We only count the hardness aspect in minecraft, when crafting tools and armor. Also, just a btw; Diamonds are also a type of stone.

That's too many custom mobs just for one biome. It would be too much like a mod. No support.
I don't get how 3 mobs are too much.

All of them are good ideas, but would I call them vanilla good? Ehhh... I don't know.
They are sensible ideas for new animals, but the fact that you can just tame all of them waters it down a bit as we have plenty of utility mobs. Still, a zebra acting like a horse makes perfect sense (I can't think of any other way they could be implemented), and the hyena's are obviously the wolves of savannas, but there's still nothing wrong with that, as it's variety done in the right way.
The part where hyenas break their tamed state and attack you sounds too risky. You never know when you'll be crowded by mobs and you accidentally hit your hyena there. Same if they happen to walk into a fire you created.
The elephants... I can't help but see them as purely overpowered. They are horses, donkeys and wolves wrapped up into one mob. Overall, partial support?

Elephants would be a pretty rare find, so that the mob can be a little more balanced. Would it be okay if the provoked tamed hyenas attacked you for 7 seconds, then forget about your accidental/intentional attack? Honestly, it would be similar to being crowded with mobs, then accidentally hitting an untamed wolf/enderman/zombie pigman. There are 5 ways that you could be crowded with mobs: 1. Summon a lot of mobs. 2. Teleport all the mobs in your world to you. 3. Make the mob farm crowded by overbreeding and underharvesting. 4. Spawn eggs. 5. Create a small area without light, then put in a bunch of mob spawners. So, none of these are natural occurrences in the world, meaning that you'll be fine if you don't tamper with your world in any of these 5 ways.

Sorry to say, something being rare does not always cancel out how powerful something is in the long run. Because once you find one elephant, you're putting a dent on the purpose of finding wolves/donkeys/horses from that point on. The idea of elephants alone are alright.

That's true, but an untamed wolf, enderman or zombie pigman wasn't following you or teleporting to you around the whole time, and those mobs are less likely to be all up on you because of that. The 7 seconds thing makes these accidents less of a "oh crap I hit him I'm boned!" situation, but the issue is still there. nonetheless.
I'll admit, I sort of like that mechanic. it makes more sense because... these are hyenas we're talking about. Although I don't know if the whole Minecraft community would like that from a gameplay standpoint.

It may not be a lot of mobs that are grinding against you. It could just be one slip of the mouse or an awkwardly timed click that causes you to hit your hyena. The same goes for a fire you made, and that part might require some extra programming because mobs don't seem to connect player created fires to players. That I know of.

Excellent mob ideas for the biome. The zebra is nice, but the hyenas seem like a downgrade from wolves if they got the attack-you-even-if-tamed feature while wolves do not. I also see the elephant as an overpowered, rideable tank.
I support the zebras, a bit of the hyena part but not the elephants at all.
Edit: Also, just throwing this out there... It's not such a good idea to link to another thread just to explain something. You'd have been better off if you just copy and pasted the zebra part your other thread.

I like the idea in general, but I found some flaws:
- Minecraft can't detect what block was placed by who so fire damage counts as "natural".
- I don't like the concept of hyenas attacking you while they are tamed, you could accidentally hit them.
- Elephants are OP.

Elephants should, as a balance measure, be only a bit faster than the player, although they would be able to sprint to get to about the same speed as horses for a short time.
I think that would make elephants kinda suck.
AMPPL50 said: (While mounted, they should also be able to break blocks in an area, but only if they aren´t stone-like, with the exception of netherrack.) Netherrack is one of the softer stone-like blocks, so I don't see why that should be an exception. I will consider this idea.
[quote=AMPPL50;/members/AMPPL50;/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2319682-more-savanna-mobs-exciting-safaris-made-possible?comment=18]As for hyenas, they should, rather than being tameable, attack hostile mobs randomly. They would have a preference tyowards spiders, and would be indifferent towards skeletons, and would mostly just attack the more damaged ones, so they would seem to be scavenging food from weak enough mobs. As a drawback, mobs killed by Hyenas wouldn´t drop anything, and their drops would be obtained by killing the hyena that killed them instead, as long as it isn´t food.) Why shouldn't they be tamable? They're basically the wolves of the savanna.

[quote=AMPPL50;/members/AMPPL50;/forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions/2319682-more-savanna-mobs-exciting-safaris-made-possible?comment=21]If they are basically horses and wolves in a single mob, they would logically perform worse at either´s task. They do, actually, in a lot of cases.
[quote]Quote from AMPPL50jump
As for hyenas not being tameable, there shouldn´t be a mob that is little more than a recolor of another mob, plus, it would be more fitting for scavenging animals to do that. They are actually more than a recolor of a wolf. What I meant by "basically they're the wolves of the savanna" was that they show a few core traits similar to the wolf's.

Hyenas are closer to civets, which makes them closer to the game's ocelot than the wolves. Dingoes are the wolves of the Savannah, if we're getting technical.
I love your idea of zebras they could be like vanilla horses but they are shy and faster than a regular vanilla horse, but i dont know how hyenas and elephants would fit the ambient by making them tamable it would be too unbalanced.
I got a few ideas:
*Bears: spawn on plains and forest but they are uncommon, they are hostile to the player and have 30 hearts of health, they like wolves sometimes atack farm animals.they can be killed and when killed they drop fur with they fur you could craft some nice decoration blocks like the bear mat and maybe they drop their head.
*Rhinoceros: they are hostile to the player and have the same health as an iron golem, when killed they drop they skin and with that you can craft some armor that protects more than gold armor but not more than iron armor.

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
If anything, the Rhinoceros should drop their horns, which would be able to be sold to Villagers for several emeralds each.
Or it could be just a nice decorative item.

Sorry for the late reply! Responses in red.
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding. Makes sense now.

Or it could be just a nice decorative item.
