The way blindness currently works using the /effect command, no matter what level you apply, you are blinded for the same distance, 5-6 blocks in every direction. What if the /effect command for blindness could be toggled from 0-100? For normal blindness you could say /effect <player> 15 <time> 1 or /effect <player> 15 <time> 3 or so on. This would be useful for mapmaking, as applying 0 would bask the player in complete darkness, giving you the possibility of a player being "blacking out" temporarily. Using the command /effect <player> 15 <time> 50 or so would be useful for creating dark dungeons and such where you want there to be a fade away point or dark horizon. This would be an quick addition and infinitely helpful.
Additions
-Adds function to the <level> or <amplifier> argument of the /effect command
All potion effects go from 1-127. And I believe level 127 blindness will give a 1 block view distance.
Surprisingly enough, no. Potion LEVELS go from 1-127, yes, but that doesn't mean it actually changes how severe the effect of the potion is. Raising the level of blindness actually does nothing (same with nausea, night vision, etc.) An interesting side note is that Night Vision + Blindness creates a total blackout effect, which allows you to see nothing.
Anyways, support for this idea. I think Mapmakers and plugin devs could use this well.
