I want a chance that a item will fail to be crafted. It would be a 5% chance. It would add some realism. Below the crafting area, text in red would say "Failed crafting item!". If you use the inventory, it increases to 10%. It would prevent spam crafting, or at least reduce the amount of the item from the spam crafting.
Edit: I'm getting trillions of no supports. You will get the things back.
... And thus the world was created, quite a very large world. A void was under it. Block by block, Chunk by chunk. A player set foot in it, face all the fears and terrors of the night, mining and crafting.Minecraft...

No to 100th power! I'm going to make a whole set of diamond armour! *Fails to craft* Oh yeah! I totally love it when my diamond stuff does that! In realism we trust!!!

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
5% fail rate on Crafting Tables means every twenty things you craft, one is gonna fail. Which means all those Diamond Blocks might go to waste.
10% fail rate on inventory crafting means every ten thing you craft, one is gonna fail. Which doesn't help when you need torches in a pinch.
And if it's gone forever... then you just threw away 8 diamonds to try and get a Diamond Chestplate.
And wouldn't someone just make a hack that force the game to always craft the item?
Firstly, you say that you will get the items back if you fail. Then what's the point? You just craft it again.
Secondly, if you change it that you will lose your items, all that work to get that diamond chestplate is gone. GONE. And many other valuable items, like beacons, enchantment tables, storage blocks, diamond tools, etc.
Thirdly, what is spam crafting, and why is it a problem? I don't see any problem with being able to craft items instantly, without fail. You have to get the items to craft it, why is there this added difficulty? Sure it would add realism, but this is a game that doesn't need realism in absolutely every field.

People, it's already abundantly clear that this is a bad idea. It's better to just let it die off silently instead of of coming in to say that this is a bad idea like everyone else before you did.
That's one of the worst suggestion I've read... It's pointless. It doesn't make the game better in any way, all it does is making a major part of the game annoying by making you do it multiple times more. Think about it. How often do you craft something in a session of Minecraft? For me in a hour I might do a 100 things. That would mean that 10 of those would need to be redone. And giving the materials back still makes it pointless. It adds nothing. There's no extra challenge, you just lose time to recraft the items. Absolutely no support.

This would suck, and is a horribly thought out idea. Why would we want this in the game? This would just make players angry.

Get that through your head. This will just be extremely annoying.
