I been playing Minecraft for a long while now, and there's a little detail about the achievements that always pisses me off when starting a survival world, the thing is that sometimes I spawn and start chopping trees without taking a look at my inventory and then after crafting some stuff, I find out I don't have the Getting Wood achievement, because I didn't take a look at my inventory before getting wood and I don't have the achievements for crafting a bench, crafting a sword...
I think this could be fixed easily by making "Taking Inventory" a not required achievement to get different ones.
READ THIS: I'm not saying I want any achievement to be removed, I just want it to not be requiered to get for example the next achievement.
What about maps like captive minecraft? They would break without this acheivement. Many maps rely on acheivements to work. And who(Apart from the mapmakers) cares the hell out of acheivements anyway?
I haven't heard about that map, but yes, that is a downside of my suggestion, I like getting all the achievements when playing survival (that's why there are there in the first place).
Edit: I just watched a video on the map, and I don't see how my suggestion is breaking it in any way, I don't want to remove the achievement, I only want it to not be requiered to get the other achievements.
The next few achievements are to find wood, create a crafting table, and then you're good to go. I don't think it's that hard to update your first few achievements.
It's not hard, but It makes me craft another crafting table, another stone sword... And I don't like to craft a stone sword when I already have iron...
You don't have to craft a wooden sword to get the "Time to Strike" achievement. You could craft any other type of sword to get it, same with "Time to Farm" and "Time to Mine".
Also, you're bound to make another crafting table SOMETIME while you're playing.

He has a point. In my survival world I have like 5 crafting tables in my room where I keep my crafting tables and chests. And I'm still planning to make more crafting tables. And unless your a hard core achievement hunter, I wouldn't care so much about taking out the "Taking Inventory" achievement.

Not taking it out but making it not needed to collect the other ones.
I voted that I don't care: But they're only achievements... does anyone really care? I would think most people are like me: They've played enough minecraft to not even care about them...
Personally, I don't care at all about achievements. I'd rather right a 200-page biography on my character's statistics and how far he has ridden a pig before I spend hours overnight trying to get "Overkill" or "The End?".
However, it is true that opening your inventory shouldn't be required as a prerequisite for unlocking an achievement that has you chopping down trees.
In fact, I don't even think opening your inventory should be an achievement at all. Congratulations, you pressed E! Or whatever key you've bound it to.
I'd like to see this achievement removed, or at least bear no significant requirements to "Getting Wood" or any of the other achievements. Maybe making a new tab in the achievements panel labelled "Side Achievements"? Yeah, that would help.
Anyways I think I'll fully Support this one.

I need my beautiful little egg to grow up, so please, feed it those tasty clicks! Also, regarding the adults, they'll click you.
Taking Inventory - Every single player will do this unless they are a vegetable. Not really an achievement.
Benchmarking - Every single player is going to make a crafting table. Unless they are a vegetable.
Getting Wood - Every single player is going to chop down some trees. Unless they are a vegetable.
It seems to me that these "Achievements" are just a way for stupid people who can't build to feel better about all the time they waste playing Minecraft... "You suck at Minecraft, you can't even build!" "o ya? well i got teh benchmarking achevemunt!"
OR, it teaches newbies how to start their first day in Minecraft. I've never seen anybody bragging about their achievements.
How does it teach them? You don't get the Benchmarking achievement until after you've already looked up Crafting Table on the wikipedia, then figured out how to make planks and put four of them in a square. You don't get the Taking Inventory achievement until after you've already given up on the i key in frustration and looked up how to open your inventory on Google.
I don't really see the problem with Taking Inventory being a necessity. It's the easiest achievement in video game history, and you're even prompted to do it when you start a world (maybe not now, I haven't started a new world in a while).
No support.

1. You need a crafting table, so you have to open your inventory to craft it (unless you only use those in villages, which I don't think). As soon as you open your inventory, you will see the notification that you got the achievement for opening your achievement. This remembers you that you don't have the wood achievement yet and now there's the little trick: Close your inventory, throw away one wood item and re-collect it. You'll get the achievement and then you can continue.
2. You'll probably walk around in the world and then you ether take a crafting table with you, so you collect the drop at some time, or you make another one, then it's also done. Next achievements after that are pickaxe, hoe, sword, bread, oven (like crafting table), iron, etc. These achievements are things you'll do multiple times, so there's no big problem, you only get them later then you should.
3. I don't like achievement dependencies anyway. If you do an achievement task before the achievement is unlocked, in most cases there is an error in the game. Or it's not well-thought-out, like in your case or with pickaxes if you take them from a quickstart chest. I think there should be a list of achievements instead of a map.

They guide newbies. "Huh? I have to open my inventory? Okay. Huh? Crafting bench? Okay. Huh? Wood? Okay."
No one brags about achievements. In no way could they be considered prestigious.
