I know many like the cute yellow Pufferfish item, but I think a change may be a good idea.
With the recent implementation of the Guardian mob, I was thinking that because the Pufferfish and the Guardian seem related in the way that they both have spikes, why not make the Pufferfish look like Guardian offspring/babies? Basically a small-Guardian texture. The only difference besides the looks would be that it would be called "Pufferfish?" instead of "Pufferfish". More of an aesthetic change than anything. Feedback? Art?
How about keep pufferfish as it is , but add a new " guardian egg " that can be obtained from fishing , it is categorized as a treasure , and elder guardians have a chance of dropping it , it can also be found in ocean monuments as a block modeled after dragon eggs but are beige instead
Being a nerd is nothing to be ashamed of. Nerds rule the world! Who invented the internet? Nerds. Who created personal computers and smart phones? Nerds. Who made every video game you've ever played and ever will? Still nerds. Who sent probes to distant planets? Nerds, nerds and more nerds! I'm a nerd and I'm proud.
A yellow fish with yellow spines and two black pixel eyes, looks very similar to a blue fish, with orange spikes, and a SINGLE eye with a red pupil?
Even the larger variant is grey, with a white pupil and blue spines?
lolno.
Well, I see your point, but I can see the relation between two puffer/spike-y like fish, and I thought it might hint at further danger. Pufferfish? - Guardian - Elder Guardian, the same as Endermite - Enderman - Ender Dragon. Anyway, opinions are good. The one eye would look cool, in my opinion.

Dragon Eggs probably will have a use in the future, so maybe a different item for a treasure. But anyways, back on topic.
It would be a nice aesthetic change, but puffersfish and Guardians look in no way alike, apart from the fact that both have spikes and can potentially kill you (don't eat 'em!)
No support, sorry.
The spikes I thought might make them seem related in some way, and would look nice, but, meh.
I'd prefer if it went to:
Pufferfish (fishing loot) - Guardian (mob) - Elder guardian (mob) - Sentinel (boss)
Because the elder guardians just aren't boss like, they can still guard the gold blocks, but I wish there was a boss in there somewhere.
Possibly under the gold-shrine, you'd have to dig trough to find him.
Sorry. Reread the post. Changing the pufferfish to look like a guardian doesn't make a lot of sense, because the pufferfish are Minecraft's only source of water breathing potions, something you will need to in order to raid the underwater temples. This is both very cruel (drinking a creature's babies to kill the mother), and a huge evolution fail. Also, almost every new Minecraft player post-1.8 will most likely learn to fish before ever raiding an underwater temple, so finding a baby guardian or something like that from fishing would leave him/her a little confused. Sorry, but no support from me.
Pufferfish will need some sort of way to turn from Pufferfish to Guardians. Not sure what that should be.
When a Guardian is spawned in this way, it should be neutral, not attacking the player unless you att
Did you read my post? It's just the item for aesthetics. Though I do think they would be cute in a fish tank...

Wow. lol I didn't think of it like that... "wtf is this alien thing?"

Sorry for double-post.

When a Guardian is spawned in this way, it should be neutral, not attacking the player unless you attack it. This would make aquariums practical.
