i have been playing minecraft a long time ago, minecraft is a nice game in creative mode but it gets boring quickly when you play survival.
this post is about improving survival mode and making it harder with more challenge by multiple ways (please note this is not a wishlist, its about improving survival gamemode, it will be silly if i post every single idea alone in a thread as the ideas are related to each other)
1-Growing food. either plants or animals can be farmed by growing it. it must be, but currently its OP as it makes infinite source of food, as a survival game food must hard to acquire. how could this be solved?
-growing plants. this is not a post about new farming mechanics but i must add that plants must grow slower, plants growing in 20 mins (1 day!) is stupid, it makes farming silly as you do the same thing very often also it makes acquiring food easy. time to grow food must be increased so it will be less boring and less OP.
planting must not be such a simple thing, hoeing earth for 1 time and sowing seeds then leaving them is silly. there must be a better mechanic for farming, plants must be watered every while (placing water near plants still works but the water will be consumed and must be replaced again) and the earth must be hoed every harvest, also melons and pumpkins must not be infinite, the stem will be depleted upon harvesting.
-breeding and growing animals. animal babies must grow slower, and must be fed to not die until they grow up. also breeding animals should cause the animal to go into pregnancy instead of instant giving birth. also chickens must not be breedable they lay eggs already..
2-food spoilage. people could keep food stored for long and that makes it easy. food must spoil so people cant hunt 3 stacks of steak and store it for weeks of playing. there would be ways to keep food more durable like adding salt or putting food in cold places or drying it. i will not talk alot about that so it wont be a wishlist.
3-owning animals. i call it semi-taming, its owning animals, not a complex thing but its silly to shear wild sheep, you need to own the animal before working with it, all you need to own the animal is to feed it its favorite food, then the animal is unlocked, not feeding it for a long time will cause it to forget you so you need to pet it frequently. once you own the animal you can breed it, milk it or shear it, and it will be less afraid of you (see below).
4-hunting food. hunting is too much easy, which makes food easy to acquire. how could that be solved? animals will not stay close to you, they will always try to keep a distance, walking with a sharp thing (any thing that increases damage) will cause animals to run away, even before striking them, also animals should have increased speed depending on the animal. cows and sheep will defend their selves if you hit them without weapon with average damage, drawing your weapon will scare them, if you corner an animal it will defend it self too. this makes hunting more fun and challenging, and makes bows not a waste to use on animals.

5-more difficult day, less difficult night. mobs spawn in night is overwhelming and sometimes it screws fun of fighting hostile mobs as you find it impossible. also day is too much easy as there is no threat else than long falls, which is easy to avoid with more caring. mob spawn at night should be reduced a little bit so there will be a little space between mobs. also there should be hostile mobs in day (no matter what it is, predators, neutrals or whatever) so walking at day won't be totally safe, walking in secured areas is still safe, predators won't spawn in your lawn
6-more to explore. actually this is not an idea, but mojang should really add new treasures, structures and nice places or good loot. also add more achievements like the dragon egg to put at your house, like statues or special paintings that could be only brought from special places to be placed in your house.
7-thirst. actually if you don't like this part don't blame the entire post, also dont tell me to use thirst mods i have seen them all and they are complex. anyway making thirst optional could solve this .
8-new "difficulty" or "gameplay" option. along with audio, video key bindings and that stuff there must be options for gameplay that is about changing rules (like removing thirst, spoilage, reducing growth time and birth time and so on..)

I think not; in fact, it probably makes it more boring instead as you have to sit and wait while your food supplies grow so you can actually do things without starving.

Regardless this sounds more annoying than anything, especially for a new player.

Especially true of pigs who would have a chance to give you a net loss of food (right now if you breed them and the resulting pig drops one porkchop, you get the same amount of food it took to breed them but with slightly more saturation; add any more food, and you'll have lost food trying to breed the pig).

However, this is going to make it a pain in the ash tray for people to get food early on.

The night shouldn't be made more difficult, it's a cakewalk with iron armor.

It'd take far too long to get a reliable source of food going, and until then you're either going to be sitting and waiting for a wheat farm to grow so you can actually do things or mucking around with an unrewarding breeding system. Maybe in a separate gamemode or as a mod, but not in vanilla Survival; this focuses the shift of Survival too much towards survivors, even though it's focused on both survivors and creators (despite what the name will tell you).

If food was any harder to get than it already is, you would spend so much time working for your food that you wouldn't have time for anything else. If you 3 stacks of steak, you can do on a Mining trip, survive a zombie swarm or basically play the game for half an hour and you have already used up a good chunk of it. If you had to spend all of your time farming food, than you would never get to experience the rest of the game. If this suggestion appeals to you, feel free to grab Hunger Overhaul.
