I was wondering how we could spice up the game in PVP and such, and I thought traps are a little underused right now, and could use some buffing. So, we should be able to create a false floor. This could be created by:
= false floor
This would look like a patch of grass ontop, with a bunch of sticks making up the rest of the area. As soon as someone steps on the top, it breaks.
It would look exactly like a grass block from the top, but from the side, it would be obvious that it's a false floor
IN theory, it would work like this.

You could easily put something at the bottom, such as a with a pressure plate, or , or a .
I think this could help traps become more in depth.

Nice idea, I like it. :smile.gif:
This may get noticed by Notch if you put it also on Minecrafts Get Satisfaction site, http://getsatisfaction.com/mojang and if you twitter him. :smile.gif: If you want, its just a suggestion. :wink.gif:
Well it doesnt really matter anyway if you play SSP because mobs are stupid enough to not jump over the landmine, for PVP, unless your against a retarded player, your pretty much dead.
Also, you never make a landmine a square down, then of course the enemy can escape, you dig down around four blocks down and then put water, post the tnt above the hole and then the pressure plate.
That idea is way different from what I'm suggesting. I'm suggesting an actual trap, while he's suggesting somethingthat can be used as a trap. Also you have to press a switch, or a hit a pressure pad. What if the enemy doesn't step on the pressure pad, or you aren't there to hit the lever? That's the beauty of having a trap. It'll work even when you aren't there.
Although I do like the idea of it becoming any block, rather than just a grass block.

But a trap door would be fun or a false block.

Edited.
Your idea needs implementation as well.
"Hey look, a nice patch of grass."
"OH, CRAP, IT'S A TRAP!"
"Hey, guise, get me outta here."
"It's dark."

This idea is much more versatile
