Despite there already being many weapons thread, I have decided upon spreading my ideas to the general public about weapons and classes (in terms of weapons).
There are 3 types of weapons - Light, which are fast, but not very strong, Medium, about moderate speed/damage, and Heavy, which are slow, but powerful.
There are also 5 classes of weaponry - 1-handed, which can be dual-wielded/used with a shield, 2 handed, which are even more powerful, Pole, which have extended reach, but less damage, Ranged, like the bows of present, and Multi-hit, weapons that are weak, but are capable of hitting multiple targets up close.
This leaves us with 15 weapons, one of each weight, and of each class.
This has already organized weaponry to a simpler standpoint
However, in order to craft the new weapons, you'd need a weapon-table, made as follows:
[] []
[] []
This gives you a 4x4 grid to make the larger weapons on.
Then, you need to recognize the new grades of equipment.
1.We start off with wood, as always.
2.Then to stone.
3.Then to copper, found up to 96 blocks high.
4.Then to bronze, which requires tin, which is found slightly lower.
5.Then to iron, found as normal.
6.Then to steel, made by smelting iron again.
7.Then to diamond, as always.
This gives 7 tiers of weapons, obviously, the higher the tier, the harder it is to make.
Another thing to add (mainly for show) is netherrack, or its equivalent in the Aether (if it is ever added).
This makes it look evil (in the case of netherrack) or holy (in the case of its aether equivalent). It does nothing else. You add it in by putting it in any block beside the weapon when you have made it.
Now, for the weapons themselves. We shall use as the wildcard block, meaning that it is where you place the material.
This provides minecraft with a plethora of new weapons, all of which have a function, and are not just thrown together as some random stuff that looks cool.
Thank you for reading.

No. Just no. I don't like the idea of new weapons being added to the game. I'd support if it was only one or two, but these are too many. What are you going to use them all for anyways? Oh wee, more damage, but what's the point? OHKOing everything isn't exactly fun either.
inb4'ignore this in the game'
Who can actually ignore a big aspect of a game? It's like buying COD:BLOPS without playing multiplayer or the zombies...

I never said to ignore it.
The differences are, that some weapons will suit players better. Those who are defending a place would be more suited to having a weapon and a shield, whereas a person who is best with stronger weapons, because they aren't very good at quickly clicking, would love the 2-handers. None of these would be 1-hit kos, maybe 9 damage, but never should a weapon insta-kill. Also, Pole-weapons could help people with all those extra hoes they got :3

While adding new weapons is definitely a good idea, each weapon should be unique. What I see there, however, is having each niche filled with three weapons, that doesn't appeal me. Remove all but medium weapons, and then we're talking.
Fair enough.
I'll see to doing that soon.
I'll probably replace the dagger with the sword, as well as make some other modifications.
But thanks for the feedback thus far, everyone.
