i like some of these ideas, but the Aether like you said should be the opposite of the Nether, in my opinion it should be a world with blue/purple trees same with the grass, sparkly water, and crystal formations or crystal buildings. The night sky should also be much brighter and dramatic filled with stars of various colors rather than the normal sky of the overworld.
I do not like the Aether. I think the Anti-Nether reaalm should be like in my post, the Sky Lands. Mine is more Minecraft, and less new, confusing mobs and blocks.
I heard about the mod, that make possible to go to Aether: build nether portal, but hold a feather in your hand.
BUT: I want to do this in original Minecraft!!!
this is not the mod the mod is different and not in a good way.

no just no we dont want opposite we want new fun to use blocks.
Great Idea! I hope this is put in, so there is actually a use for gold tools. Also, some of the Aether-only blocks look really useful. There needs to be some sort of parachute though, so that if you do fall you have a lifeline.
you have a point when the was made lava was like instant death so unless you hit water falling was to but with fire pots a change might need to be made how about if you could enchant float armor boot with feather falling you could survive the fall unless of corse you fell in to a pit to bedrock or off the very top fo the aether.

so yours is unoringinnel and you hate new ideas?
(my spellchecker is brocken so if I mispelled any thing lets why)
I don't like this "aether" filled with an abundant of new blocks and mobs that don't really make it feel like Minecraft. The main point of Minecraft is to survive, and the regardless of what you do Minecraft keeps the feeling in the current version of the game. This idea feels more like a way to completely drive players away from the Overworld, which is supposed to be the main world you survive in, and put them in a land of fantasy. The Aether is fine as a mod, but putting it in the actual game would be a bad idea.
I do however think they should add the skylands, without all the gimmicky blocks and have the default grass and stone design. A couple of new blocks and mobs would be fine, but nothing crazy like these. Don't get me wrong, these blocks and mobs are good, but they wouldn't fit in well.
TL;DR: Add Skylands without all the unfitting new mobs and blocks.
Exactly my point, and I have my own thread that doesnt have all of these unneeded new ores and blocks.

um stone and dirt are the same are you sure you dont mean the mod cus this is different
This will probably rely heavily on renewable cloud, but even if they were not it would still be worth it. How about a Cloud Boat? It would be crafted from clouds and flown using the same controls as in creative, but probably not go as fast. It would float in mid-air if you got out in mid-air, so build a sky port if you don't want it to drift away! (Has a hilarious plan involving a fishing pole. ) In real life there is something called an aerogel that is super light, tough, and can fly with barely a warm breeze, so the idea of a "cloud car" is not that far off.

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?
I'm voting in support of this idea, but for a lot of different reasons, of which I am willing to explain in great detail, so if anybody who finds this post doesn't like to take forever to read a long post, you may skip it, although you will miss a large chunk of the reasons why I am in support of this concept.
Anyways, there are many things of which I find to be quite interesting, mainly the concept of there being movable platforms, blocks that can make true hidden rooms, and most of all, a block that can produce wind. These features are concepts that Notch has been trying to figure out, and has little idea in which to both fit the atmosphere of Minecraft and produce objects that would make for very useful contraptions in my personal opinion.
With the fact that Pistons is currently the only known method in which physical motion for blocks can be made possible, they can become incredibly expensive with the use of several Redstone and Iron if you were to build a huge contraption, such as the Piston Elevator. If this type of sand was made, in which could be made into glass, this would entirely replace the Pistons due to these being very cost effective. However, if they can get destroyed easily, I would highly recommend that we should be able to make something where they don't break at all, even if they do hit something.
Now, Blocks that can still allow light to pass through it and even let Players/Mobs to pass through them is just brilliant. I wouldn't mind having a little fun with this one. The kinds of maps we would be able to create with these blocks would be amazing! So much fun! I also agree that the only way to get them with the appropriate Gold/Diamond tool would be quite interesting, and not only that, it would give Gold a viable use other than being used to craft a Watch.
Finally, having a Block that produces wind is absolutely amazing! Have you any idea what you could do with those?! They could be used to create an "Antigravity" Field, where you could literally float above dangerous terrain, and even create a barrier of wind that can only be deactivated if you could pull a switch. Plus, these could actually be useful in creating a kind of pipe system in Minecraft that actually works with the look and feel of the game. Plus, it would be so hilarious to watch a Creeper get blown off the edge by these blocks, or even watch a Skeleton as he keeps trying to shoot you in vain because its arrows are being blown off course by one of these blocks, oh how I would be laughing my head off right about now. Not only that, I would say that these could be a really useful point of defense against Spiders that could climb your walls no less.
I would want the Aether to be added into Minecraft because of these kinds of blocks. They would really make the game a lot more entertaining. But if Notch figures out another way to add these kinds of Blocks, I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do to make it possible for us to find them.

Come visit my Scroll on Dragon Cave here: My DC Scroll
I like the idea of the Aether, but think it should be endgame content. Perhaps the dragon egg could be crafted into an item used to activate an Aether portal, or it could only be accessed after the defeat of the Enderdragon.
the idea is to make the nether just as complex so all 3 realms (the ends a mini boss realm not a real one) are equal.
this is not the mod the mod is different and not in a good way.

we have dugeons with sentries.
this is the suggestion the good one.
