well we have one aquatic mob now after that update a while back, but the lamantis mob is so much better. I think it would be better if it were to only spawn in shallow water so that they are not always hiding out of sight.
In real life, manatees are far too curious for their own good. They always tend to investigate strange sounds on the surface, which unfortunately tends to end with them getting run over by boats. Point is, maybe some of them could come up to you or look at you through the glass if you have an underwater base.
Good idea, like it alot... Theres only been 3 suggestions so far out of a coupel months that i have loved... Ocean Craft. Farm Craft. and this... well not the initial suggestion.. but the other one with the wanderign and stuff! Nice drawings
Okay I actually really like this idea but I think the model would be better if it was more like this
And I think it would be great if it was set up like this:
They spawn in groups of 3-5 or so, 3 is the minimum, though. When they spawn they're in one of their 3 "modes" where they are sleeping on an underwater surface (so it could be on some sand, dirt, or even the glass roof of your underwater base)
The 2nd mode would be fleeing, which is activated if you either attack another manatee nearby, or kill a passive mob close enough to them (so killing a pig near the water could scare away any pesky manatees sleeping on your glass roof if you don't want to kill them)
So something like this:
Their 3rd mode would be wandering, where they just float around (slowly, since manatees are so slow) until they find either another manatee (in this case, they "pair up" and float around together) or find 2 or more other manatees (or only one more, if they already were a group of 2)
When 3 or more manatees are near each other (or another manatee finds a group of already sleeping ones), they all slowly float down and sleep until they are disturbed, in this case they would just flee again.
So something like this
Two more minor additions, they could possibly get up every once in awhile (or maybe only while wandering) to find grass blocks, which they would then eat the grass off of a turn into dirt blocks, or maybe even eating papyrus plants
It would also be cool if they would flee when you came by on a boat, but I'm not completely sure about that
Also I don't mind them not being called manatees, I'm just calling them that because that's what I know them as.
dude I love your drawings!

You can't make metre cubed pieces of rock get jiggy with each other, that's just WRONG.
Please people, don't just quote chadsweb's drawings. They are nice but I don't want to scroll through them to see someone say "Nice". One post is good enough.
I think this and fish would make the sea in minecraft amazing. The fish would be about a quarter size of one block, and they would either
A) Team up in schools of about 10,
2 -3 would team up and follow a manatee.
Also I dont think the manatees should just sleep. They should sleep for half a night cycle, and occasilonly a quarter day cycle, but other than that they should kind of roam around in a 50-60 block radius, doubling if there is 2 manatees, tripling with 3, so on.
And manatees should provide a food source, when cooked, provides 3 hunger points, when raw, causes mild hunger and 1 1/2 half point.
Edit: sorry about the cool face thing I was meaning to do B )
If facebook, Myspage, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
Chadsweb is right with his suggestions but maybe there could be seaweed mangroves underwater and they eat and live in those.they drop raw meat, seaweed, and blubber(maybe) when killed. Plus you can ame by feeding seaweed (if they dont flee).they wont despen if you do and ou can make a tank and move them into it (how is unknown to me)
...
I love the interpretation of the concept, but damn... I'd feel so horrible killing one now. D:
But feeling horrible can sometimes be okay.
I have answered that question at least three times in this thread... *grumbles* Including once in the OP.
It would add more to Minecraft.
