I was trying to find a similar preset to the retroish one posted early on. I ended up making a forest island seed. I believe with some tweaking I may be able to make it much more like the retroish one.
(Don't forget to fix the "lapis Size" and "lapis Spread" censoring)
It seems they fixed that, after looking at my post.
I will post again if I get one closer to that.

This one looks a lot better, I think. Still lacks some umph, but I think it looks much closer to a "beta-ish" one now. (Note, on the screenshots I used the Nostalgiacraft "MidBeta" pack.)

why don't you just use development versions? because not many people know this but they made them easier to use.
I was like everyone else and couldn't figure out how to use them but mojang have added them to the minecraft launcher itself! just create a new profile or you may just be able to edit your old one but I will explain the first method anyway. so create a new profile and name it whatever you want. and under its settings just click enable use of development versions and you can either click use latest development version or choose witch one you want.

And I want to start a seed collection that actually has the goddamn version numbers for each seed. I'm sure plenty of confused people have tried 'gargamel' in the full release and wondered why they didn't get the same hills.

I know how to do that, but that's Imgur hosting. Everybody in the map forum uses the "Upload an Image" button on this website. Then instead of looking like the one you just posted, the images they want to show end up stuck at the bottom under "attachments".

This was pretty awesome! Feel Free to change it however you want. I randomised every page (other than page four, because that is the same settings as page three) TEN times! I have 4GB Ram, and Intel HD Graphics 3.1.0 card, and I get 20 fps, but it is an unstable fps. Play at your own risk. Too bad it's all a swamp.
OK guys, I have a challenge for you. We've all seen Neo Beta, you've probably heard of the "Retro-ish world generation" from a while back that looked more like Alpha, but I think we can do more. I want to see if somebody can create Minecraft Classic Terrain Preset.

I just made a very accurate retro world, if you compare this to 1.7.3, there isn't really much of a difference. If this is not retro enough, you could just stretch the X main a bit and it should be even closer.
Has anybody made a stitched kinda world where the generator has been artificially changed between exploring? Basically if you have two custom worlds and explore one a bit, swap the level.dat files, and repeat, you could get a really crazy mismatched world. I've done something similar before.
