I think I have just found the biggest coal vein ever. I'm not sure the exact numbers because I had some in my inventory, but I'd estimate at least 100. Anyway:
Seed: 417596856
x: 44
y: 45
z: 260
*Note*: I know that technically coal veins don't go over 50, I'm guessing it was two veins that met right next to each other. Please note that all blocks were connected to each other with no breaks, so it was two directly adjacent ores, there is also a vein of iron connected to it on one side.
okay a single coal vain cannot be that big "they"
are many different coal vain brought together you have most likely seen coal vain as big as this one but never really realized it but its still a awesome find :biggrin.gif:
There, just a few years after you requested it lol. I surrounded the area in wool to make it easier to see the coal. I don't see where people were coming up with 130 some coal, at least not continuous solid-face touching. One block was adjacent and two blocks had gaps between them and the main vein.
I was a little confused at first as I set the seed and went to the position and saw no crazy coal vein then I saw how old this post was, lol. Surprising how much changed in the terrain generator between 1.1 and 1.8.x.
The original post in this thread was made on Jan. 21, 2011.
Java release 1.1 came out on Jan 12, 2011 so that's the latest release that the OP could be describing.
The world generator has been changed several times since then.
You will have to create a profile for Release 1.1 to see what he found.
