Oh and let me repeat myself. i think the idea is awesome but why are you sticked to this exact seed i cant understand. if anything, i would prefer to vote in a poll for a seed to use, before the whole project launches.
This was posted early after the update. A poll would have been drowned out in the sea of posts about the update, and without something tangible to start with, not as many people would have been interested. So, a seed was chosen, and they stick to it because it wouldn't make sense to change it yet.
Yep, and that's why I said "it doesn't make sense to change it right now." Eventually, the world will get pretty much fully discovered and they'll probably move on to a new map.
Is it just me or does this structure thingy at x:-34.5 y:73.6 z:144.3 look like a hand with a finger pointing?

After some exploring i found a decent amount of iron and coal. Heres a screenshot of a particularly large coal deposit i found near my shelter:

It's approaching nightfall, night 1, and I'm sitting at 66 coal, 9 iron, and about to dig in.

My first shelter, a nice squared off island (easily defensible). I will build a more permanent home soon.
A few observations: 1) This world has an arseload of coal.
2) Fairly rich with iron so far as well.
3) Almost no creepers? Maybe I'm getting lucky.
There was a nice stash of clay right off the back so I'm cooking that down and about to get to mining in earnest.
