1) Go to http://www.ipchicken.com, your IP is the big blue number.
2) Click New World and enter you IP into the Seed box (ie 127.0.0.1)
3) Take a picture of the first thing that you see.
I used my birthday (10071990) as a seed for four different worlds. I didn't take any screenshots, but I can describe what happened;
The first world, I spawned in a very hilly desert area, with lots of fairly precipitous sand walls, and a propensity for overhangs. I had some fun dropping sand, and I found some pumpkins near spawn, then I explored into a nearby grassy area and found more overhangs and large open caves, also lots of open-air cave entrances. One large open-air cave had a skeleton dungeon wall.
The second, third and fourth worlds were IDENTICAL. The exact spawn shifted a little, but it was always near an icy bay, next to a sandy, watery gorge in the otherwise grassy landscape. Large hill inland, again overhangs, open-air cave mouths, a large pumpkin patch just off of spawn and a huge overhang that borders on open cave at -280/30. I swear, especially the third and fourth world were the same down to the details, the amount and distribution of the pumpkins and the presence of open-air coal in the overhang area.
I'm generating a fifth world as I type this. It is, again, identical down to the details. Same for a sixth world with a different name, although spawn was shifted more in this world.
Although I cannot account for the anomalous first world (then again, the area may lie in a direction I haven't explored yet in the other worlds), I think we have proof of the fact that the same seed produces an identical map every time, although more testing might yet disprove this. Nonetheless, I think we should make an official seed repository thread (I wouldn't manage to keep it up, so someone more dedicated should do it), so we can share our maps without sharing the actual folders.
Incidentally, I tried 127.0.0.1, the first time I spawned in a watery desert area surrounded by flat-ish grasslands. I saw a forest off to one side of the desert, and on the opposite end, I found an open-air zombie dungeon that had collapsed full of sand and had, among other things, two saddles in it (once I dug out the chests). The subsequent two tries with that seed, I couldn't find that area, but I did find another sandy coastline area that had several clay deposits quite close to each other, some of which were just huge. The spawns were, however, far away from each other, so spawn drift could be major on an otherwise identical map.

Update. New launcher perhaps, required as well?
P.S. lol localhost IP. Lemme make one too.
Press F3 and look at the lower 3 coordinates. Go to the same place.

It was rather disappointing, being a rather flat beach that led up to a raised grassland.
Oh, and I saw some clay and four squids.

Also, I want Ocelot's IP. =P
Really shouldn't post your ip in the forums, IF that is your actual ip
