when I create superflat worlds (on my ps3) so I noted that you can put in seeds even when creating superflat worlds, I thought that superflat worlds generate always the same. So if you put in a survival island seed, and create it as a superflat world, would there be ocean aandy superflat mushroom biomes and superflat survival islands, or would it just be the same standard superflat world no matter what seed you use. So do seeds affect superflat world generation, (ps3)
The layers (grass, dirt, stone, etc) always generate the same, but the locations of structures and placement of features like trees and lakes (if enabled) will depend on the seed; you can even use Superflat to find the locations of structures in default worlds (provided that the biome is valid, in the case of structures that are biome-dependent; thus, mineshafts will always generate the same (unless they try to generate underwater) but not villages or temples).
In short, yes, seeds work in Superflat but do not affect the basic world generation.
So if I use seed then it can generate trees and caves? I thought superflat worlds only have 3 blocks of dirt till bedrock, so there can be caves in superflat worlds, PS does it work on ps3 edition too

I'm referring to the preset code shown here; I don't know (but assume) that the PS3 version has the same stuff; and no, you can't generate caves, only mineshafts, if you enable them by adding "mineshaft" to the preset code - again, if the PS3 has presets.
Again, the seed has no effect on what generates - only where certain features like villages generate; for example, one seed might have a village (or a tree, if the biome is one that has trees and "decoration" is used in the preset) at 100, 200 and another seed a village (tree, etc) at -500, -400 - which will always be the same (unless they change the code that generates them).
I'm not talking about custom superflat presets, I'm asking if seeds actually affect superflat generation (no presets cuz I'm in ps3)
As I explained, they do affect stuff like villages, but nothing else (does the PS3 edition even have villages in Superflat, or is it just a few layers of emptiness?)
Yeah there's villages as long as you check the box for genreate structures. I've been playing superflat survival an. It's quite fun, I've even wen t to the nether with no creative mode simply from trades. The console edition generates a superflat nether where there are like 10 ghasts firing at you at once and even no lava!,
In short, yes, seeds work in Superflat but do not affect the basic world generation.

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
