A few weeks ago my roommate bought some rum called Oakheart and the little text blurb on the side said it was to 'inspire a spirit of adventure'.
Needless to say I decided to do some adventuring with a map seed of 'Oakheart'.
Being true to what a rum should generate, I was placed on a decently sized island, which loaded up as a sunflower plains isle. I thought that was cool. After hunting down some trees on an island just to the east, I made a boat and started to explore.
The ocean is massive, first and foremost. After finding enough sugar cane for a maximum sized map, Roughly 70-80% of the map surface is covered in water, with a continent each in the northeast, northwest, and southwest corners. There are islands all about the ocean, ranging in size from three or four sand blocks total to the largest I found, which happened to be the sunflower island I had spawned on.
The three continents themselves are rather interesting. The north western continent has so far the only village I've found, which spawned in a large savanna. It's composed of mostly desert and savanna as far as I've gone. The northeastern continent is mostly mountainous with lots of strange floating islands and trees, as well as a mega taiga or two somewhere in there past the edge of the map. And the southwestern continent is rather interesting because right at the bottom left corner the world creates several large
There isn't much to be discovered on the islands themselves. They're just nice places to build little island settlements or castles. The real neat discoveries lie in the continents in three of the corners. My friends and I have taken the world to LAN and set about turning the entire ocean into one big kingdom.
Also a little bonus, horses will spawn on the starting island and the one immediately to the east. That's pretty rad.
Here are some screenshots of the map and various parts of the world. (Please excuse the rather poor render distance, my computer is a potato.)
There are several small spots on the map I haven't explored, as well as a few structures placed onto the map (Most noticeably the giant gray rectangle in the northwestern corner where my friend decided to build a giant flat stone structure for no reason. Fun fact: it apparently took exactly 4224 blocks for that big flat thingy.)
The texture pack I have (Just in case someone wants to know) is Glimmar's Steampunk Pack, which is linked in my signature.
These are the mountains on the southwest continent. They're surrounded by a flower forest and they're all twisty inside. There are only a few of them but they're pretty rad.
This one is the larger bay-shaped island in the southeast of the map. Really neat little place I need to build something cool on.
(I did cover up an entrance to a ravine so as for it to not be unsightly)
These are both the northeastern mountainous continent. A lot of the mountains spawned with gravel coating them and I find that pretty interesting.
