Hello everybody! I have created turrets in vanilla Minecraft!
I used the rotation parameters further more to engineer one a very powerful enemy, the turret. Ranging from a radius of 6 blocks from the turret itself, the turret may shoot, toss, or dispense entities. I have created different ammo for each of the turrets, which may be able to be changed individually.
Turrets may target any kind of mob, including the player, within its radius. If none is found, the turret will shut off and reawake when a mob is at close range. As shown in the video, multiple mobs will may be targeted at the same time.
At spawn, for every area with a square of hardened clay, there is one functional turret. Two square areas are divided, thus two turrets exist individually. These turrets do not have a fixed positioning, and may be repositioned and still shoot relatively to the turret, thanks to the /execute command. Any additional turrets will require a copy and paste of a single square area, replacing the string "Turret1" to a desired name. At the moment, turrets only target players and zombies. Additional mobs will require a copy and paste the clock that searches for the mobs near the turret, replacing the string "type=Player" to the desired mob.
1.8 has come to be my favorite update. You know what this calls for? A tower defense map!
Ah, yes. This is definitely an intriguing characteristic of the turret. I was planning to add a snowball turret, but I thought how useless it would be and how easy creating a snow golem is. Also, snowballs can't damage players .
EDIT: When I saw this video, I was amazed on how similar my vanilla turrets are to these modded ones (well, close enough).
Dang that looks cool. Anyway to making a grenade launcher with tnt shootin out? or a flame thrower? or even a multiple head snowball shotgun. This has endless possiblity.

Yes, of course! The turret won't 'die' until the minecart under the blocks is destroyed. A flame thrower works as well, but the fire charges won't be visible when dispensed.

This is just an example of how advanced command blocks/redstone is getting now. What used to be specifically a mod can now be made in vanilla (well, some things)!

EDIT: Seems I accidentally posted in the wrong section, can a mod move this thread to the redstone discussion and mechanisms please?
