That doesn't help at all... Did you even read the post? First of all those are both the same thing, second the commands aren't wrong because I mentioned I made them in command blocks before and it did work. The function just didn't appear when I tried to use /function

<Insert> Don't put the "/" in the function files. It breaks the function for some reason.
Help I have V1.16.40 running on windows 10 app, I can't get the /function command to find the .mcfunction file no matter where I put it, my folder structure doesn't match many of the instructions to do this getting very very annoyed:
from here the worlds save with 3 sub folders: behaviour_packs, db and resource_packs, 4 files set the world save info ie level.dat, I understood from the various instructions I could either drop the file direct in the behaviour_packs folder or create another fulder and stick it in there, called it Buildbase.mcfunction and copied it now to sooooo many folders hoping to find the right one
See the comment above that the user put it in the wrong save hoping someone derstands why this isn't working and what I need to do / where I need to put this file in order to run /function buildbase and have it execute my list of commands

By the looks of your file path, it looks like you're running 'Minecraft for Windows 10', not 'Minecraft: Java Edition'. functions (and datapacks as a whole) only work on 'Minecraft: Java Edition'.
If you are running 'Minecraft: Java Edition' then you go into the world selection menu, click on the world, select "Edit", then select "Open World Folder",
and put the datapack containing your function in the "datapacks" folder.
Thanks at least I can rest knowing its not doable instead of going insane with the whole why does this not work for me.
I wanted to make up a bunch of buildings etc using commands and the command blocks only take one command so pointless and copy and pasting each command into the chat takes too long as well for a complex build, can't understand why the /function command exists in win 10 if it then doesn't actually work and why if that's the case does wiki not state that so you don't waste days trying to do it.
This is a pretty old thread I know but I developed a debugging tool to detect why functions won't show up on Minecraft: Java Edition because I was dealing with a file that is 25000 lines long.
MDB is pretty easy to use, and can tell you why your mcfunction file isn't working in a minute.
The problem was solved. Idk how to delete the thread tho
So, the reason is, either you're making them wrong, or some of your commands are wrong.

Hopefully a fix for future updates
