Hi everyone, I am making an adventure map, but need some help with commands, so this is just a thread I can use to post on if I need help. Thanks!
so firstly, how do I use the /testfor command to set a redstone block at a certain point when a player comes within, say, 5 blocks? I really don't want to use tripwires, because that's kind of basic.
Doesn't matter, but anything that will make it work. Will try this out when I can, and if it works... well, thanks! p.s. what's ur minecraft username if u have one?
I've also been having problems with some entities...
Say, I have one called 'survivor:name' or whatever, and I had a circuit teleporting them to the player once they found them, but when they get to a certain place, I want the survivor to stop following them and die.
However, when I do the command to kill it, (I use this) /kill @e [survivor], it kills all players as well....
'nother thing, how do I use a /testfor command (or whatever) to say, test if the player has 15 cooked chicken (food rations is the real name I use), if they do, take it from them and give them a shotgun? and all when they press a button?
um, sorry, but are those repeating command blocks and chain commands blocks just normal command blocks? do you use /give @p minecraft:repeating_command_block?
and which type for which,
sorry, i thought I had a lot of command knowledge, but am constantly being proved wronge :D.
Much more for me to learn!
Oh lol I missed the last bit of ur message. thx.
But how do I connect the chain/repeating command blocks together? Comparators?
p.s. which command goes in the repeating? and they go in that order, right?

Learn to use Google to answer your questions. If you can't find the answer online, come back here. There are probably hundrets of tutorials on how to use chain command blocks.

Oh,
And anyone who helps me effectively with the commands (solving my problems) will get their name in the credits!
Doesn't matter, but anything that will make it work. Will try this out when I can, and if it works... well, thanks! p.s. what's ur minecraft username if u have one?
I'm here too if you need any help! Just post here and me or any good people will help you!
You know that you are lazy when you do a program to write a program

Anyone know how to solve this one?
But doesn't this still kill all OTHER entities?
Also, is there a way to disable PVP on a world?

Not really, but you can deactivate all combat by giving the players a weakness effect:
"100" is the effect time in seconds.
My projects: https://blockbench.net/hub
yeah but then they can't attack other mobs
Another thing, this is kinda complicated (in my eyes)
What would the exact command(s) be for this?
If a player does not wear a chainmail OR a iron helmet, they get blindness and poison UNTIL they put either one back on their head?
and a repeating command to replace the comparator?
Repeat:
/scoreboard players tag @a add safe {Inventory:[{id:minecraft:iron_helmet,Slot:103b}]}
/scoreboard players tag @a add safe {Inventory:[{id:minecraft:chainmail_helmet,Slot:103b}]}
/effect @a[tag=!safe] poison 1
/effect @e[tag=!safe] blindness 1
/scoreboard players tag @a remove safe

And I don't need a comparator for this, just a clock circuit?
I mean, do I have a clock circuit, and at one end I have a string of command blocks, (do I have a comparator between each, or redstone)?
No redstone is needed if you are in 1.9+
Just use the repeating_command_block and chain_command_block for these. Use 1 repeating command and then connect the rest as chain commands.

yes, use the /give @p repeating_command_block
To connect them: when placing these command blocks down, there is an arrow on it. you connect the command blocks based on where the arrow is pointing.
Note: These repeating_command_block and chain_command_block are in 1.9+

so just place them right next to one another? Sorry, I'm kinda stupid XD
thx, It works!
I've searched a lot, so, is this wrong?
Command Block with command: /testfor @a [r=3]
comparator
another command block with /setblock 313 72 344 minecraft:redstone_block
doesn't work...
Any command that will do this will help, doesn't have to be /testfor
