So what I'm doing here is I have a parkour race and I want when a player steps on a pressure plate at the end to say which place they're in, So like player A steps on the pressure plate first, I want it to say @p wins, then when player B finishes say @p finishes in second!
I know how to do the say @p wins and such but what I want to know is if I can run a /setblock command, then a /testfor command that tests for the block the /setblock command put then act on that information.
So, say player a finishes. The command block under it puts /say @p wins then a setblock command. The next player finishes and it runs a /testfor command then acts on the information provided to set out a second /say @p command.
Also take a look at this guide if you are requesting builders for a server/project.
Please note, if I deny a suggestion because it is already possible, then I mean it is already possible withing 10 command blocks (That do not spawn other command blocks) or up to 5 creations (Command blocks that spawn other command blocks) to make your suggestion.
If I critique your suggestion I am not hating on you. Learn the difference.
For the scoreboard one do I have to set the "scorekeeper" board up manually? Sorry, I'm still a noob to command blocks.
Not sure, I just searched it up and that was what I found. As for scorekeeper, that would just be an invisible armour stand with a custom name. The only objective you will need to make is placement, which is a dummy. Then just hook up the title command block to the score block using a comparator. Note, I am fairly new to JSON code, never really used it much.

Any way to do this? Thanks

Not sure about displaying the name, but this will show their place.
/title @a subtitle {Text:"Came in:",extra:[{score:{objective:"placement",name:"#placement}}]}
/scoreboard players add @e[type=armorStand,name="Scorekeeper"] placement 1

The /title one gives an invalid json message.
