Hello again. It's time for another Redstone Wars. If you're unfamiliar, Redstone Wars is a competition in which several experienced redstoners test their skills in a series of timed building challenges. The challenges could be anything relating to redstone, including logic puzzles, computing, command blocks, practical machines, or anything else we can imagine.
Rules and Gameplay
Gameplay is relatively simple. We will use a standard double-elimination tournament structure, beginning with a series of seeding rounds in which everyone competes. After those rounds, players will be spread across the bracket into one-on-one matches.
Challenges will consist of a theme, restrictions, an objective, a version, and a time limit.
The theme is a basic description of what you will be building.
Restrictions are limitations that we give you as an additional challenge, such as disallowing command blocks, limiting resources or size, or adding further specifications to eliminate loopholes in the theme,. Sometimes, there will be no restrictions, but most of the time, there will be.
The objective is a specific trait that you have to maximize in your design, like speed, resource-weight, compactness, etc.
The version is whatever version of Minecraft the machine will be tested in. The version specified in the challenge is usually always the most latest version at the time the challenge was posted. If a machine does not work properly in the version we test it in, then it will be considered broken, so pay attention to the version we tell you to use!
The time limit is a specific date/time before which all entries MUST be received. Any submissions that are sent in after the time has passed will be discarded. The time limit is usually 3 days, but some challenges will be given extra time if they are difficult enough.
When you are building your machine, keep these basic rules in mind:
1) Your entire machine must be completely visible from above ground. If your machine is underground, dig a hole around it to show everything. If your machine has multiple components that are connected wirelessly, all components must be a reasonable and visible distance from each other. This ensures that the judges can easily see ALL of your machine, without going to the effort of digging to find it.
2) You may use ANY means necessary to construct your machine, as long as the machine functions in the proper version of vanilla minecraft in the way it was originally intended. You may use McEdit, singleplayer commands, bugs, or anything else as a means to create it.
3)Please try to keep your machine lag-free, if possible. This is probably inevitable for people with crappy computers (such as myself), but please to try to minimize the lag created by your machine. This makes it a lot easier to judge.
4)Have fun and keep the competition friendly. Be nice to your opponents. Friendly competition is perfectly fine, and in fact, encouraged, but please don't trash talk, bully, or threaten other contestants. If you lose, be a good sport about it, and congratulate your opponent. And if you win, don't rub it in their face. Redstone Wars is purely for fun, and there's no prize involved, so there is really no reason to be a bad sport.
SUBMISSION
Once your machine has been completed, upload your world as a zipped archive to a website like dropbox or mediafire, and send me a link to it. You can send it to me via pm right here on the forums, or you can email me at [email protected]. Either way is fine, but whatever you do, do NOT post a link to your world on this thread or talk about the challenge until the match has ended.
IMPORTANT: Please name your world in the following format: [round #] - [your username]. Doing this will help us to easily index your world file into our storage folder.
Your designs will then be judged by me (Sebastian), fz0718 (Eric), and Koala_Steamed (call him ajck). Collectively, we will choose a winner and the results will be posted about a day later, if not sooner.
The final winner of the tournament will not receive a prize (other than a picture of a trophy).
SIGNUPS (closed)
If you wish to sign up to be a contestant, simply make a comment below stating that you would like to join.
Please DO NOT sign up if you cannot be online daily or almost daily. You should be able to be contacted within 24 hours, and if you cannot be reached, then the entire competition comes to a screeching halt. If you wish to join this event, make sure that you check this forum post daily. I highly recommend "following" this thread so that you will receive updates every time something new is posted here.
Also, this tournament does last quite a while. I believe that RW I lasted more than a month and a half. Maybe more. If you don't think your interest will last that long, then don't make a commitment to this competition.
Thank you all, and I look forward to yet another incredible adventure!
My IGN is ThunderPlum and my e-mail [email protected]
Is it realy this easy to register?
Yes anyone is welcome to register no matter what your redstoning skills are. People who are joining and new to Redstone Wars make sure you read the whole of the first post. Even if it is kinda long...
You guys don't have to provide an email either. We will mostly communicate through the forums, but if you want to give me an email as an extra means of contacting you, then that's always good.
Just saying, it's not necessary to provide anything about your redstone skill, nor do we wish to have such information; we have the seeding rounds for that!
I would like to sign up as a contestant once again, this time I made extra sure I have nothing major going on for a while, so I can actually participate.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The problem with the truth, is that it never lies.
Would it be possible to publish a schedule of when certain challenges will be run? Not necessarily what they are, just when they will be. I tend to have a fairly busy life, so knowing when to make time in advance would be a nice luxury.
I saw in the last redstone wars that some people were busy (or away) on certain days, and that they only needed to specify when they would be away. Well, here I am saying that I will be away between: 1. the 4th to 11th of April, and 2. 17th to 22nd of April. I hope this isn't a problem!

Question you have on redstone? Feel free to pm me here, or on my Youtube account.

I like to do redstone builds on my channel, and I can probably help you with your in game troubles.
Just saying, it's not necessary to provide anything about your redstone skill, nor do we wish to have such information; we have the seeding rounds for that!
Position: Contestant (I'm guessing you don't need judges, so this isn't necessary.)
I can hope so Of course that's probably what everyone wants, although obviously only one of us can win the glorious trophy picture

Been playing Minecraft for too long.

Sorry for the misunderstanding!
