just a simple design i made.

for those of you that think this wastes wheat, here is a quick tutorial of efficient wheat farms. takes 3 min to build and 2 min or less to harvest AND REPLANT 60 wheat.
I really don't understand why you need a machine for this... Why would someone use this rather than just stack his cows in fence and slaughter half of them? I might have missed the point in the video because I couldn't understand much of what you said because of my low sound volume. Does it exclude baby cows in the drop or something?
the point of something like this is that they can be dropped into something that kills them for you while leaving you plenty of cows for breeding... Its a nice design but the breeding does seem a little inefficient to me... of course i may be wrong on that point
1.) this design is also made to compensate for small changes in mob behaviour, so it should work in all updates. ( hopefully)
2.) Yes some wheat will be wasted with this design. I have a wheat farm design that more then compensates for this. it takes like 5 min to build, if you already have 60 seeds ,and produces almost a stack of wheat. i guess that will be my next video.
3.) The design is more about speed of use, building time, and resource consumption. In other designs you have to
a.) stand in a very specific place inside of a block and re adjust your position until the mods stop moving.
b.) click one cow then another
c.) press a button or spend 5-10 seconds just sitting there as the baby drops to another chamber.
d.) then repeat 10 time and realize that you are now out of cows to breed.
YES, those designs are cool as hell! some are rather brilliant, and they definitely show off what redstone can do. Why spend a lot of time, resources, and effort building an over the top breeding machine that is slow, tedious, and produces very little? . To put it simply my designs are based on cost vs gain.
Did I mention that im an engineering student in real life?
i know wheat isnt that hard to come by... my harvester can produce up to a thousand wheat in one shot... and it grows fast... the point is that it wastes resources... not that the resources that it wastes are precious... its a cool idea but its not efficient
Ok yeah in that context it is wasteful but i see it as more of a trade off. You will use maybe 2 times the wheat to breed cows at a rate of 5-15 times faster then other methods. Not a bad trade off. When I say it is efficient I am talking about build speed and breeding times not the utilization of wheat.
I guess it depends on how you look at it... Admitedly i do like this design and i may even utilize a similar design... but not as my main breeding setup... it is a nice design to keep a supply of parents in... i can efficiently breed my stock of cows very quickly in a large flushing pen... that is of course until they get ttoo crowded... when that happens i flip the switch and it flushes them all to a kill floor this admitedly is a nice design to re load a dozen or so parents into my main pen... a little wasteful yes but in terms of cost vs gain... use more wheat but start off with a decent sized herd to breed... And the waste is minimized because it is only used for starting the herd... it has its uses but i personally cant justify using it on a large scale for a leather farm. of course thats only my oppinion
I say this is VERY efficent as long as you have a good amount of wheat and a good farm.
Its a matter of oppinion... i have tonnes of wheat but i do things on a large scale, when i kill off cows it isnt by the dozens it is by the thousands... on a small scale it doesn't seem like much but when you do things on a large scale it really is... for some people when they hit the kill switch with this design they have wasted maybe 2-3 stacks of wheat... when i hit the kill switch i have wasted 2000-3000 wheat... as i said before however i like the design for storing parents... use it for approximately 10% of the total breeding... cuts thousands of wasted wheat down to hundreds... brings it down to an acceptable waste.
do you have a vid of this thing?
"when i kill off cows it isnt by the dozens it is by the thousands"
i wana see i wana see i wana see
i kinda have it pulled apart right now... started building your farm to load in parents and realized that since i updated my cane farm no longer works so i am kinda trying to fix several things at once >.< i will get a video when i get everything figured out
