Hey redstoners, I need some help making a circuit. I've found that this is the name of the circuit that I've been looking for, but through search I can't seem to find a relevant thread.
A MSB detector takes in binary input and outputs a binary number with only the greatest bit present. For example, 1011 would output 1000, 0010010 would output 0010000, and so on.
Technically I only need this for 4 bit numbers, but expandability would be prefered. I tried my hand at building a contraption using pistons and wire-blocking, but besides being pretty big (and getting significantly bigger for each additional bit), it has some blinking issues due to repeaters and timing.
Make sure the decoder has each ouput running into the preceeding output so that the only torch that's on is the one that was output, and doesnt have any power running to it from other higher outputs

I'm afraid I haven't dabbled that much in that realm of redstone.
Also, don't try using the in-built forum search to find anything ever again. I tried that once, and found that just using google was easier.
Thanks for the sound advice. I had actually tried Google as well, but I have the feeling that if someone had already made a circuit like the one I wanted, they would probably have listed it under a different name.

Help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

Thanks a ton! This looks like exactly what I needed, and it makes a lot of sense too!
