So I have played with many piston enchanting rooms, but they all feel complicated and difficult. I went in trying to make on that is compact, redstone hidden, and easy to use. this table has 4 tiers. starting with a default 12 shelves, and adding 6 per tier until 30, the max bonus. This design is 12 high, 8 deep, and 7 wide. the blocks above the surface go up to 7 high, so it is very well hidden.
The top row of bookshelves does not count in your version. Mine was built before it was clear enchamntment tables count to a max of 30 bookshelves, which gives you the possibility to use a door.
My version can bring any number between 0 and 30 in range of the enchantment table. 3 For example is done by using 1 and 2 at the same time.
this wasnt to one up me, cause thats what it looks like. My bookshelves extend down, It just looks like a 3rd level. it is actually the second when you push it down.
