I thought to make a super smelter, using the minecart system in my SMP world, success! Now I want to expand it, but the only way is by going vertical... I've once seen a minecart system that could drop down on the end and go back to the loading station, my only struggle is: I'm not a redstone hero...
If someone likes the challenge, please try to make it and send me the world please at: [email protected]
I'm not that ores-hungy, so I'll consider it as total furnaces
I have filled my space again, as it was underground and I'm moving it to a space outside underground, so that won't be anymore of a problem. The max room I had was about 10/11 furnaces in a rail system.
If you would use droppers/hoppers, everything would fill up on the first half before going to the second.
The ramps was the idea what I was going for, but I'm not so genial so I tried, but failed
Yes, my plan was that 1 minecart would run for the items.
My idea for using two systems would be to use a double chest as a splitter, with two hopper chains, one to each system.
But after messing around with the single system for a while I think this is as easy unless you're very strapped for space, or, like I first thought might have wanted too many furnaces for a single minecart to keep filled.
This is what I've got currently, but the problem is that I can't work vertically up...
What are you using as fuel?
My issues with supersmelters are typically that I have stuff coming in faster than hopper speed. For example using bamboo as fuel, a hopper line at 2.5 items per second can only support 6 furnaces. And filling up minecarts is usually done at hopper speed...Of course bamboo burns for 2.5s, coal burns for 80s (I think). So if you use coal, a minecart could supply, ugh, too lazy to calculate, enough furnaces
If you want to use minecarts, you could always use an item splitter (ilmango has a compact perfect 50/50 splitter) for both fuel and items to be smelted, and send half of each down (or up using an elevator) to a second furnace array. I could rustle up a world if that helps you.
