Okay, I guess I should have added a chest for better illustration in my previous post, and also, look up ImpulseSV on Youtube, that might help too. Top chest= Input. Chest end of hopperline=Unsorted/Overflow.
Okay, new problem :(. Items are getting stuck in the bottom hopper and not going into the chest.
I'm afraid I can't diagnose the problem from the videos you supplied.
Please provide screenshots (or videos if you must, but screenshots are much easier to discuss) like the one I attached.
* Complete redstone setup of one sorting unit (assuming all are equal). We must clearly see every redstone piece and where the hoppers point. Use 2 or 3 screenshots if in doubt.
* Contents of each hopper in one unit
* Contents of the top hopper in the units that don't work
As I already said, from your videos it seems that your setup is too long (3 blocks redstone dust on top instead of 2, extra repeater on the bottom) but might still work if you put 30 or so of the blocker items in. But I can't say this for sure. Better build it in the standard way.
Another possible error is that some hopper(s) point in a wrong direction.
Also I don't know what you have changed in the meantime.
Look at the pictures provided by asundrus. They show exactly how the system must look.
I'm sorry but we still don't have enough to go on.
Frunbulax requested pictures of of the hoppers that lose their contents and pictures of their contents (and I would suggest the neighboring hoppers as well)
Have you double checked that none of the items in the hoppers have max stack sizes of less than 64?
Is it always the same hoppers that beak?
Since you can't provide a world download I think you will have to watch and see exactly what happens when they break.
Set up a hopper on a redstone clock to add a specific item to the stream and watch the hopper inventory as items are fed in, does the number of items go up to a certain number and then go down to zero? Try that with both the items that break and the items in the hoppers next to it to see if filling up the neighboring hoppers is what breaks the others.
If at all possible find a way to watch both the hopper contents and the redstone at the same time, I posted a picture earlier showing how you can do that for the torches that control the hoppers, it could be an idea to see if you can do that for the rest of the redstone as well.
Try rearranging the order of the sorters and see if that changes which ones break. (If it is the same every time.)
(Didn't I already suggest that in an earlier post?)
If all else fails try putting the ones that break by themselves, with a block in between with no redstone so the redstone can't bleed over.
I'm using 1.16.5 Version auf Minecraft via Java in Debian using the Minecraft Launcher. I'm a long-term user of this game.
The last days I try to configure an auto sorter like this one:
Like you can see - I set up a single-sorting-unit for imagination.
To discripe my problem: If I put my Sorting-Stone [I'm using a renamed stone] and the Item which should be sorted into the hopper everything - even the sorting stone - went out to the chest. I did it like it was discriped in the viedo. I try to change the direktion of the comporator, of the repeater, of the hopper at the top. nothing changed.
I'm helpless. I don't unterstand what the problem is, I try to find information about any know issus with hopper or comporator - nothing . I understand that these units should not stand tight to each others - there has to be one block between so redstone signal cant swap over. ... but this problem did not happen...
Hi, I can see the problem in the very first frame of the video (before the logo blocks it).
You've got the redstone torch too low, it should be under the block with the comparator on top.
--
That way it powers the block next to the hopper and locks the hopper.
And gets turned off by the repeater when it's time to unlock the hopper.
--
And the sorters _can_ be placed next to each other, if they're setup properly the signal from one will never be strong enough to unlock the hopper next to it. See Frunobulax' post 4 posts up.
(The signal does spread out sideways but it doesn't get as far.)
Yeah, removing them might be a good idea.
Then I'd try building them in a new place, in case it's the ones next to them that are causing the problems.
Just testing.

Thank you for the replies. I have built it that way, but the filter items go through the hoppers. Here are images

thank you very much. you made my day.
- Problem solved -

I tried doing red stone for the first time and I wanted to make a sorting chest but it just goes straight through the hoopers idk what to do
