So, I've been trying to make a mob farm in my single player survival world. The design is one I had never seen before, and I'm not sure if it will work.
Basically, I have spawning chambers that are 16 blocks long, 1 block wide and 2 blocks tall. Sticky pistons are attached to the floor blocks and retract them occasionally with a hopper timer, leaving the mobs to fall 25 blocks to their death.
Ive lit up most of the caves and stand around 35 blocks away, but I've seen only a few mobs fall. I've only built 4 chambers, so I know I could have more spawning space, but I want to know if it's worth building.
Is there some delay with mob spawning after a block has been moved by a piston or something? I've tinkered around with timings and things, but nothing seems to work.
My main worry is that I will build the whole thing (about 20 spawning chambers) and then it not work. That would be a lot of Pistons, but I do have a slime farm and a lot of iron so if the farm works it will be worth it.
