I am having some issues with commands. In an attempt to test for blocks underneath the players feet using the new /execute command it simply doesn't work. Here is the command:
I tried changing -2 to -1 one and it keeps saying:
"Failed to execute 'detect' as Enderwhovian"
It would be much appreciated if someone could help me with this problem.

Do you have cheats enabled? If not, that is your problem. Enable cheats, and it should work. Also, you may want to put the command in a command block at some point if it isn't already. If it doesn't work after this, I don't know what is wrong.

It's still saying that it it failed to execute that command now. If I was trying to give nausea to a player over a emerald block would it be @p ~ ~ ~ /testforblock ~ ~1 ~ minecraft:emerald_block?
A testforblock command in this instance would not be usable, requiring multiple components and being incompatible with any respectable clock. The command would be:
Hey, I hope someone sees this, but anyway, I've been trying to find a way to make a door using /fill and I want it to open when a player is on the block next to it, but I can't seem to find a working command to do so. I've tried using /execute with detect mode, but after countless tries, I've reached no evail. I've also experimented with testfor, but that hasn't worked either. I've also been using a comparator to carry out the signal if the command is true, However, if you can find a way to make it so that I don't need the comparator, that would be great. In fact, so would any solution to this problem that isn't pressure plates on top of command blocks. Also, if you can suggest a simple way to close the door afterwards (like when the player has walked through the door, and moved at least two blocks away) that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hiya, I am a year late... But erm... Is this command supposed to detect the entity that is in the radius of the designated blocks? I am trying to use a title command for when someone enters a city or town, so one they breach this one boarder, text will display on screen for what town they are entering. I wanna know 'cause this is a huge project. Thanks!

Edit: I decided to use /execute @a ~ ~ ~ /testforblock ~ ~-1 ~ minecraft:air instead of detect. It take one more command block but at least it works.

I still cant get mine to work:
/execute @e[type=MinecartCommandBlock,name=on] ~ ~ ~ detect ~ ~ ~ minecraft:water 0 enititydata @e[c=1] {CustomName:off}
It says:
Failed to execute 'detect' as on
even when it is in water

Here is my command.
/execute @e ~ ~ ~ detect ~ ~-1 ~ hay_block 0 effect @e[r=0] 14 1 3
It works on other worlds, but for some reason in the world I want to use it in, it doesn't work. I'm in 16w20a.
