That Desert Biome sounds like a "Painted Desert", like out in the west of the America. Quite pretty. I'm goanna need two though, because the first one I find I'll probably strip mine, then turn the second one into an Adobe themed city.
And I would bind my mouse thumb button for sprint, cause that is the same sprint key I use for all my other games.
I did no such thing, that was jefe, and he clearly gave his reason; it was locked because this is to be the official thread for all future updates. It would be pointless to have both running at the same time.
I would personally disagree with the sprinting change as I am used to using double tap W. I would hope a mod is made to restore the original controls, or if it was an option in the game's controls menu.
I like the idea of hardened clay being easier to get and I like the idea of non-sandy deserts but even the somewhat muted colors of the hardened clay palette are generally far too garish for a "painted desert" look. One of the good features of the current worldgen is that the terrain is passably realistic. Undyed, white, light grey, brown, and maybe pink and orange are the only colors I think you could use. Even that palette would be less realistic than a Road Runner cartoon.

Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
Mouse thumb button? Does you mouse have buttons on the side?
Some do, yes. Mine has two, and they are used on browsers to go back or forward one page.
I was also thinking about using one of them for the sprint key. It wouldn't get in the way of anything and it's obviously easy to reach, so it does sound like a good idea.
Big change that they will exist again in current worlds. I hate those borders, they make my worlds ugly. I hope that this will be the last time they will occur; in my opinion stable worlds are also important. It is not fun if your world gets destroyed every several months. Rather just a pretty good terrain that doesn't break for many years, then the most spectaculair terrain, were you can't stay in a world for a few months without those borders. Now already I build my creative buildings on superflat worlds and some of them in selfmaded terrain surrounded by flatland, to prevent those borders...
I remember Exalm, the creator of the OldDays or xblite or whatever it's called mod, was talking about a solution to chunk borders on the 'Did the terrain become boring?' thread.

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.

I think the hardened clay colors would work well in a painted desert biome, particularly the orange and red. Have you ever been to or seen pictures of the Painted Hills in Oregon? Or the Desert Southwest of the United States? Both have very similar colors in some areas.
I love the idea of the Painted desert and I like the idea of all new Biomes. But if they are going to make an Ocean Biome they need to make more to it! Like, maybe they add fish mobs finally, or like, some Flooded Ruin structures out of stone or something. Maybe a floating NPC village settlement, so its not just all open water and boring. Hey, maybe they can build a Minecraft Atlantis in each world and give it a boss. If they have a boss for the Nether and the End, why not an Overworld one as well?
You could try to assign the zoom-function to the f-key, like me. You'll get used to it pretty fast.
Hm..that does seem like an easy key to reach. Thanks for the tip! I think I will be using that!!

That is the "Holey #@$#" key.
I added that 7 hours and 51 minutes before you made this comment, so I'm not sure why you're asking.
Not only that but this thread is straight forward. No rumors from the blue here.
Praise be to Spode.

I actually think it looks really good:
