Odd occurrence, not sure how long it's been happening, but I think since 1.8 is a good guess:
Strange, dancing white pixels at a certain distance. I think it might be me seeing through the space inbetween blocks and into the skybox, but it annoys me a lot. Is there any fix for this? Should I install Optifine?

Has anyone else experienced problems with not being able to craft fence posts?
Fence posts are crafted differently now since they can be made of different wood types. Instead of six sticks, replace the middle two sticks with a wood of your choice. That should work.
I kind of love this 1.8-1.8.8 update. This added many more interesting items such as guardian, ocean monument, prismarine, andesite and slime block. Let take's a look at some of the update.
1.3 Added desert temple,jungle temple and more.
Since 1.3 has been released. There many twist I realized. For example, adventure mode is just being good for map-making. I feels so good. You can also trade with villager using the new emerald ore. Desert temple added more possibilities for building design and base. Jungle temple is also another rather good structure that added new dispenser turret system. Beside, there also added few command such as /seed ,/debug ,and /toggledownfall which is very helpful. They super duper brand new ender chest introduced at the update seem vey helpful in survival. I can use it to bring my loot, for example dragon egg safely without any risk. This is perfect and is not op because it small, require eye of ender and then you might want a few. Overall, this shall be called "Survival update.
1.4 Added beacon, wither, painting, etc.
Ah, new boss, new beacon block.Let review it.Wither is a pretty good boss. Has decent attack, drop, health and hard to summon method. The wither is an actual challenge but the reward is what I always wanted to have for ages. Nether star is used as crafting recipe in the beautiful beacon block. FYI, 1.4 added zombie villager, wither skeleton, as well as painting and item frame. So, by overall it safe to assume this is pretty scary update. I love the bats, witch, beacon, anvil. Love them.
1.5 Added many more redstone item, like comparator.
This redstone update may too many redstone stuff that allowed us to have more machine, such as comparator. I used this as bud system. Redstone block allowed for many more compact system as well as the new dropper and hopper. Hopper allowed new item transporting system. Dropper allowed for some king of lucky press where you press the button and decide whether you would get some free potion, pufferfish or even beacon. Very unique. Once again, truly redstone update. Nice for this long. Redstone repeater is also improved, and they sort of added weighted pressure plate. New contraption, guys.
1.6 Added horse, lead, many more.
.This update is very helpful. The horse allowed us to have a new method of transporting. Carpet and coal block added new way if decorating your base. Name tag and lead is good addition,too. Lead allowed us a good method of keeping mob on place whereas name tag can be used to name a mob. Horse update. The horse is the fastest survival transportation on land without buff so far. Do this in the nether for quick speedness.

A few new biome such as mesa and savannah. Beside that, this update added a few new particle and achievement.New food such as pufferfish allowed new potion of water breathing. Stained glass and red sand....good for landmark. Beacon with blue stained glass. This is very helpful. Acacia tree is also introduced, making the world super exciting. Acacia tree generate in savannah biome. Don't the variation!

This update added guardian and elder guardian, a new mob which is a challenge. andesite, diorite and granite is a good decorative block. There is a new trade, better and less rip-off. Well, the new slime block allowed actual missile, bomber, plane, it just require lots of understanding. Ocean monument is very challenging unprepared. So be prepared. Beside, I forgot to mention that they fixed loads of bug.
1.9 Added shield, elytra, cooldown,etc.
In 1.9, there a big update. Elytra can be used to glide from tower to tower. Cooldown effect makes pvp and pve much harder and mind-using. The new shield allowed us to block 33% and become immune toward arrows. Axe turns from optional to must have, since axe has low chance of disabling shield for a short while. There also tipped arrow which is cool. Comat updateeeee!
Therefore it is safe to assume this update is being very nice. Also, I would like to point out that I has done with my review and I would continue next time when I encounter more change.

At 265 41 788, there is the tiniest mineshaft, I've ever seen. It is not there in 1.8.8, but it generates with 15w49b.
Oh that is interesting. Never seen a mineshaft that small either! It's there in 15w47c but not in 15w31c so guess something got tweaked somewhere inbetween. Most of my experience is that the seed generation is the same or very close between 1.8.8 and the snapshots. Including a couple of seeds that start me in a jungle area that lag heavily for some strange reason in 1.8.8 and 15w43c. Interestingly enough the lag doesn't seem quite as bad in 15w49b although not certain I've got quite the same settings on custom although should be close. The laggy seed doesn't seem near as laggy if you take default world generation but I like to crank dungeons to max and put biome size at 6 and crank up the ore spawning to make it easier to find stuff to craft with: iron spawn tries at 25 and max height like 72, gold, redstone and diamond spawn tries at 16 and max height around 62, lapis spawn tries at 16. Incidentally the laggy seed is 1814594436.
I've mostly seen great lags on this box with large mods like orespawn (rather cool mod!) as it's still fairly respectable for an older machine with a Xeon X5550 @2.67GHz and 12GB RAM and running a GTX 650Ti Boost 2GB video card and keep it updated to latest drivers.

f3 works perfectly fine for me in 1.8.9 so i think you did something.

Why does 1.8 lag in singleplayer? A bit of rubber band is expected in a server, but singleplayer!? That's ridiculous, it's all client side...

Are you still trying to do it with six sticks?, because the crafting recipe changed. Or are you having problems with the modern day crafting method?

f3 works perfectly fine for me in 1.8.9 so i think you did something.
Maybe try fiddle around in the settings
