Hi guys....sorry to bring up an older thread but I can't seem to find an answer by Googling it. I read here that the option is disabled for anyone that doesn't have an Nvidia graphics card. I have 2 Nvidia GTX580s in SLI, I know a bit overkill for this game, but the option isn't there for me either and it used to be there. I needed to change the water animation to dynamic for a texture pack I'm using. If anyone has an answer please post. Thanks
It was removed somewhere along the line during the snapshots for 1.8, as it was said that VBO sort of replaced it. I saw a big difference in performance with this option enabled on my old GeForce GTX 560 Ti. At far render distances especially, it was a night and day difference. Though I use OptiFine, performance with it in 1.7.10 is good with a far (28 chunk) render distance. In 1.8, I can't go much over around 20 or 22 chunks or it gets to bad performance-wise, even with the supposedly superior VBO in place. I figure it's either OptiFine's magic, or the inferior Advanced openGL setting helped (at least some) nVidia users get big performance increases.
The option to disable it is removed.
Really? I can turn it off and it most definitely has an impact on performance when I do so.
Also, here is a link to a comment on Reddit by Grum saying that it is disabled unless you have an Nvidia card.
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
