Why are all the newer updates (1.4 and up) major updates in the wiki? I really don't think that they are all major, like 1.4 and 1.6. Is Jeb really making more major updates than Notch, and why isn't 1.0 listed as a major update?
Does anyone else wonder that too? Discuss.
Not sure what you mean about listed as "major" updates, but if you take a look at the stuff added in each one, yeah, there is a ton of things that are being added each update. Like, a very big ton of stuff. Especially 1.7.2!

I know that 1.7.2 was a truly major update, but there are a lot of updates that seem major that are not. I still don't think 1.6.2 is a major update, as almost 40% of the update were bug fixes. Every update gets them, and it takes up a lot of space on what 1.6.2 adds on the wiki, making the update seem more major than it really is.

1.6.2 is not the major update, 1.6.1 (which was the horse update) is the major update, they just list 1.6.2 because it's the last one that came and fixed things 1.6.1 broke. So 1.6.2 kind of "takes over" 1.6.1 and combines them both into a single, big, update.
I'd say any major update would be adding a lot of new stuff to one.. Bug fixes wouldn't say "major" all it's just doing is fixin the bugs ,and that's it. And or adding something little to it.
At Minecon 2012, Jeb_ stated he wants future updates to be a little more focussed on one aspect of the game. That's why every update is listed as a major update. One added lots of new redstone mechanics, while another added a completely new terrain generator. The updates will be bigger then ever!
Well ok, but all that does is it gives the update a name, rather than just automatically giving every update a major update.
What a major update is isn't really open for interpretation. If the major version number changes, (for example, 1.[x] to 1.[x+1] then it is a major update. A minor update is 1.[x].[y] to 1.[x].[y+1] and a hotfix is 1.[x].[y]_[z] to 1.[x].[y]_[z+1]. Whether or not you find new content and bug fixes to be a major update doesn't change the system in place by the development team, since the arbitrary changing of the version numbers is entirely up to them.
What you're asking is why all of these past 4 consecutive updates are major and have names, right? "Pretty Scary," "Redstone," that sort of thing.
Honestly I'm not sure why Mojang is doing that. I've thought about that question too. Maybe this is just how they're going to do it from now on and every update will have a theme. I'm okay with that.

As long as the updates are good.
The updates are good, but I wonder the same thing. How are they all major?

Go take a look. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Version_history Pretty sure this is more then horses and two other things.
Adding a new launcher with many big functions is nothing major at all...
