The only real major problem I have with 1.7.2 are the game crashes. We're talking "blue screen", shut down your computer crashes. I've never experienced those before with any other version.
Not sure what's causing it either.
High level software like Minecraft can never be the root cause of blue screens. It can be the trigger but the ultimate problem lies in the operating system, its low-level drivers or the hardware itself. Mojang did do an overhaul of the rendering engine so some aspect of that may have triggered a major problem with your driver or hardware configuration.
The latest snapshots fix 98.7% of the bugs. Stop whining and just suck it up.
