Actually I thought so too at first, but it's growing on me. It can be seen from great distance and would make a great barn although I am making my barn of red wool. :-p
Personally I am just happy they finally decided to add some new types of trees and colored wood to go along with them. I use texture packs anyways so the color doesn't really affect me. Without a texture pack it looks like everything else in the default look of minecraft looks like "grainy and bland".
Just because something looks "good enough" doesn't mean that it can't and shouldn't be made better, acacia wood has an awful colour scheme and the people that aren't bothered by it now are also people that wouldn't be bothered by it being changed to something else.
Making it into a colour that looks good would not remove it's charm or distinction, all the other wood's look fine and they're distinct.
I shouldn't be required to use a texture pack to make something in game look good, in the same way that I shouldn't have to mod my game to make it fun.
Im using faintful 32 looks fine to me. I'll agree that there too orange, more darker orange red would look nice. But i would load photo shop and change it my self. You could already release a new texture pack, on this thread call it "Bishounen_Floyd I think acacia wood is ugly pack" lol
I actually like the Acacia wood. For one thing, it makes GREAT roofing material (Acacia steps & slabs), plus, as others have mentioned before, it goes quite well with stone slabs. Acacia wood and the new Dark Oak wood are two of my favorite new blocks added in this update. (I also like the fact that you can now grow giant Spruce trees as well... Between giant spruce, giant jungle and dark oaks, it's fairly easy to set up a tree farm that's both efficient and aestetically pleasing for all your wood needs).
Think I actually like the original more in this case, but it might just be the lighting.
I played around with a fairly subtle changes myself to give people more options of what sort of colour they prefer. The first one is the original.
Perhaps some people will find the changes too small, but I was trying to keep the red colour.
The fifth is the best log and the sixth is the best plank. Dark red is a good tone for wood, unlike bright orange. To get an idea of what real people think about bright orange wood, here's the Sherwin-Williams exterior stain shade picker.
They don't even *offer* orange. It's an ugly wood color, and people don't want it. (They *do* offer dark red, BTW.)

Anyone noticed how through that entire argument the OP didn't say anything? This may be a fail troll thread, but I'm not sure. It's just not like a guy with such strong opinions to abandon a thread like that.
I am fine with the acacia wood being a little orange. All the other wood colors are some shade of brown... If anything, they should just rename acacia wood named something different.

I for one do not think it just looks "Good Enough", I love the way it looks (Gasp, I know, right? Someone having a different opinion than you? SHOCKING). I for one would be bothered by them changing the way it looks, as it is my new favorite wood color. And the color ir currently has does look good, so I don't see why they should have to change it to a color that looks good when it already does. #Opinions. And as I have said, it does look good in my opinion, if you dislike how it looks, then you should use a texture pack. That is why they became officially supported, because Mojang knows textures cannot please everybody. So if the game does not look good to you, then use a texture pack, because in my opinion the wood is lovely.
The new acacia wood is just a positive change in my opinion I mean hell they are only trying to add alot more variation to a game that is constantly being improved and played, be happy with the change, I like the acacia wood

It's actually great, it has more contrast with stone, and it's VERY different than the other woods. I say keep it how it is from here. change the tree? Don't care. Change the leaves? don't care. Change the log/planks how could you.
It looks bad. Should have used cobblestone in the place of logs, oak wood planks for the highlights above and below the windows and spruce wood for the roof.

His logic is in no way shape or form valid, please do not lie to him like that as it will only encourage ignorant posts like the one I replied to.
