People with non- advanced mice will have a disadvantage. Creating a bind to the side of your mouse (like with the Razer Naga) will give you a huge advantage in soup pvp. You wouldn't have to occupy another finger on your left hand to reach the number keys. People with mice without macros will have to strain their hand while occupying a finger for a button for the toggle sprint. This means you will not have enough fingers to hotkey up to 9. If you don't know what soup pvp is, look it up on YouTube. It is having a big impact on the community.
I have a basic two button mouses and I still am a champ with PvP, and I double tap W. Whats the problem?
Yeah well, people can also have fast computers, responsive keyboards, and hacked clients. This little thing about mice does not even come close to "ruining" PVP in minecraft.

I would rather have Mojang fix a broken feature than have soup pvp. I don't even really see how this even impacts it since everyone has the same advantage and sprint wasn't intended to be broken.
Every game since sprinting has been invented has a special key for sprinting. Minecraft broke that with its stupid and annoying double tab sprint. So its more of a bugfix.
Bad Luck if u had designed ur whole PVP experience around a bug...
This was logged as a bugfix?
MC-242 - Sprinting works inconsistently - very aggravating on PVP server
I believe the bug was the inconsistency, not the double tap itself
Not only was I surprised that someone besides me was complaining about 1.7 PVP, but the fact that someone else on these goddamn forums knew and actually played Soup PVP, and what a combo was.
For all of those who don't play regularly on a Soup PvP sever, you won't understand, honestly. You can argue as much as you want, but until you've spent a good few months on a server like this, you won't understand.
1.7 completely obliterates PVP, as it is basically adding in a sprint hack, like BetterSprinting. Again, anyone who plays Soup PVP will understand how much of an impact this mod/hack has, and why it gives the player such a big advantage.
And for you, like I said before, until you play a Soup PVP server on a regular basis, you won't undertand. A good mouse and a good connection is all that's needed in Soup PVP to win. Now that we can assign almost every single event in the game to a button, and most good mice have macro buttons, PVP will be hugely affected, in a negative way. Just like the OP said, for those who don't have these types of mice, they're put at a severe disadvantage.
And no, because that would limit your finger space for hotkeying, thus wrecking the point of Soup PVP.
So... 1.7 ruins PVP for a minority and makes everything so much more convenient for everyone else.
It is all about mining, building and crafting indeed, the core of Minecraft. Minecraft is not designed for intensive melee combat, so of course PvP is not that great. I mean, it has some melee combat, but the focus lies more in building bases and traps and craft your equipment to make building and surviving more comfortable. Your base and equipment are no goals in themselves, but just help you in reaching your goals.
PvP can, so I think, only be more intensive if all the players have a small amount of time to gear themselves up and build a base, and then confront each other with the results of their buildings and craftings. Or if you can't hit each other, but have to use the environment and your crafting skills to kill each other. You can of course extend the battle with mods like that soup thing, but Minecraft is still not really about direct PvP combat. So PvP is not "ruined" in Minecraft, it isn't simply an important feature to give a lot of depth.
For real extensive PvP you should play a game that is all designed for that. There are plenty of real battle games, so that's not the problem. Just like you have to watch a horror movie for blood and gore and not a Disney movie. Everyone knows that, it does make sense for every game and movie, but why want some players Minecraft as the game that should make every other game unnecessary? It is a sandbox game about mining, crafting and building, that's it. And the game is absolutely amazing at that, in my opinion.
PVP in minecraft is very difficult at high levels. A person with Diamond armor and prot 4 on everything and a sharpness 5 sword Vs. a person with equal gear will have a fight that lasts until armor starts breaking. No one will actually gain the advantage until the armor begins breaking.

PvP has been awful since the Adventure Update. PvP and PvE both need overhauls, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
It's more important to balance pve since that's the base part of the game. More ppl pve anyways since there's always a lot of new players and since complete item loss makes pvp a pain.
Yes, because actually being able to escape with your hard-earned gear when previously you would get slaughtered due to the infamous "sprint bug" absolutely ruins PvP. PvP is, and has always been a joke. Minecraft is a survival/building/sandbox game, if you want to PvP, then go play something like Dota 2, or Planetside 2. I don't think the majority of players want a very small minority of die-hard-PvP-ers to ruin the game for everyone else.
PVP has been broken since like the game came out.We need to make more PVE servers to drown out all the PVP servers anyway.
Yep its been broken alright, and enchanting, while a cool feature, only made it much worse, along with potions. You couldn't be more right about the PvP servers. It's getting frustratingly hard to find a legitimate normal, survival server. PvP needs a serious overhaul, or needs to be removed all-together.
Why complain about it, when your making it seem like you might've used the bettersprinting mod yourself. I personally hated the double tapped because of parkour and when I'm running from mobs I have to try it like 1-8 times, and if I still cant sprint, i'm dead. If I have no armor.

So? You can assign the caps lock key to sprint to get a toggle right there. Why does it matter what kind of mouse a person has?

Ever hear of something called running away? Its like running towards them, but without the confrontation and death.

I'm sorry, but this was inevitable.

Not unless one person has some offensive splash potions at his side, or a bucket of lava. I'm gonna be honest with you, PvP in minecraft DOES involve some tactics, but those tactics are so vague, that the average player just assumes it's just spamming the left mouse-button until someone dies.
But to add on to that, you will probably get killed by another player before you even have a chance to use any of those tactics. However, I've never tried any of those tactics, so I don't know. Maybe minecraft needs a complete PvP overhaul, or maybe it just needs a tutorial. It's kind of complicated.
Lol, since when has minecraft ever had tutorials! What is this sorcery!??

I was once in a situation like I said, with Protection 4 diamond armor and a sharpness 5 sword Vs. a person with the same gear. I had potions of speed, strength, fire resistance, poison, damage, weakness, and slowness. I used them all. (He didn't have any potions except strength and fire resistance). Even then neither of us got the advantage and we both ran back to spawn because we didn't want our awesome armor to break.
