Am i the only one that doesnt support stained glass?
I never really cared much about having colored glass alone. Having glass that could actually alter the color of the light passing through it would indeed be very cool, but as has been stated, that's a lot harder to do, and who knows when/if we'll ever see that.
This new colored glass feels like it's more just "frosted" with a color, and honestly doesn't really do anything for me, but I'm not against it in any way. I'm just not going to wet my pants over it like a lot of other people seem to be.
So I could totally understand not really caring about it, but I don't understand why someone would be "against" it. Just out of curiosity, by "doesn't support" do you mean you are actually against it? If so, may I ask why?
In my opinion, stained glass looks terrible in the default texture. Only downside is that you can see water through ice and the backsides of portals. Ice looks like a hollow box now.
Fantastic. To all dem peoples saying "Will they add colored light?" This would lag out A LOT of people. Also brand new light engine ;{P
I wished they had made orange less brown.
Surrounding some glowstone with colored glass is the first thing I tried. Nothing. :-( I knew that adding colored light would require a large portion of the lighting code to be rewritten, but they did say they rewrote a lot of code, so the timing would have been good. Also, anyone else think the colored glass would look a lot better with multiply/filter blending, rather than just basic alpha transparency? It shouldn't be that hard to implement (not very processor-intensive, perhaps even less than alpha transparency) and it would make it look so much better and more like real stained glass.

Colored light is a different beast entirely. Light in MC is handled by the game engine rather than the graphics engine and light data is stored as part of the map. Adding colored light would probably cause new worlds to not be backwards compatible with old ones so I'd be a bit surprised if we saw it any time soon.
Well if they're going to add something that breaks backwards compatibility, now's one of the best times, as everyone's going to have to start a new world anyway to avoid chunk borders. For custom maps, people who don't care about chunk borders, and any other cases when chunk borders wouldn't matter, they could always have it convert the format, like it did with the McRegion and Anvil formats.

I'd like to have both versions with a different crafting process each.
The ones from the bottom picture could come from smelting colored sand, for example.
I agree, they both seem rather different. I mean your suggestion would make sense because the one recipe could just me "powdering" dye on glass giving it a darker look while smelting colored sand would give a lighter look.
Woo! When I read the tweet's about glass earlier today I was super happy, honestly this is my new favorite addition to Minecraft, they can take away beds and I'd still be happy =D I have wanted stained glass for years. Thank you Mojang!
I don't even mind that it doesn't change to colour of light passing through, if that gets implemented down the road, great, if not, oh well. Still awesome!

I'm sure people will retexture the glass as part of resource packs; that's why I'm waiting for 1.7 before trying a serious world again so I can pick apart some resource/texture packs and take my favorites.
Don't overreact its just red glass based on red sand, I don't think they'll add blue, green or yellow sand too. So this isn't colored glass, just red-ish one. Don't create false hopes on people that will later be disappointed.
I have to use one of my reserve really big facepalms here... Yes, you're that special.
EDIT:Actually, I don't think a facepalm will suffice.

I used FIVE of them. Congrats. Although I would use more on most people. But still, not bad. Five.
Anyway, yeah, colored glass is here! Let's just wait for colored light now...

I am so mad at the Sky fanboys who are like "ADD BUUUDDDER TWO MINCRFT CUZ BURDR Z SP ASWUM ND STUFZ BUDDERBUDDERBUDDER :D:D:D:D" that I am dedicating my signature to stopping them. I had gone into more depth, but the stupid signature limit stopped me. Oh well.
Multicolored sand might be nice, though. Dying it's easy enough (of course then we'd want dyed stone, dyed obsidian, dyed Steve...) Me, I just want a few more structures, but don't have the patience to learn how to mod.

OH MAH GOD THIS IS REAL!!
(I'm just glad Lefty won't be posting about no snapshot today.)
The original seems just too gray and opaque.
LOL
Can't wait for this.
If everything was that way the game would be cluttered and disgusting.

Hopefully the faithful 32x texture pack will make it look nice.Although the panes look really nice since the colors are more brighter.
