They'd better not add that. It's unfair, gamebreaking, and sooooo un-minecrafty. I mean, imagine how OP the people who get the cake would be. Jeb is ruining Minecraft! I mean, people with that cake could effectively control the entire server! Imagine how griefers could use it! They would kill everyone if they got that!
yes, they are decent, but a ridable dragon mount hatched by the egg.... from the start it is game breaking, unfair and works in the favor of the worst kinds of people, because there is one dragon egg only, so ONE player on the server will have the ONLY mob of it's kind on the server, and it will likely have a unique and good use, so that will be even worse.
so assuming that, one, it exists, and two it is vaguely useful and unique, without even thinking of what it does, it is overpowered, broken, supports thieves and abusive admins, is unoriginal, is horribly negative towards all new players and massively unfair to everyone.
the only good suggestion i have ever seen for the dragon egg, was by coalshower, and this was it, it benefits everyone, is fair, not overpowered or cliche, is original and, adds a new aesthetic block.
but judging by jebs clear rpg mentality thus far with horses, he will do the wrong thing and make them mounts.
I Hope your not right. But I hope it means that you can bring the egg back as a trophy.

I bet someone over at Mojang is laffing their butts off right now.
"Hay man know what would be funny?"
"No wha?"
"We just stick a lump of coal on a stand. Everyone will assume it's a dragon egg in the over world and the wile speculation will keep people up at night, and cause countries to fold!"

oh no, i swear to god.... if they implemenet ANY of those dragon suggestions.....
First you people spend over 10 goddamn months whinging about how there are no dragons in the Overworld, then you whinge about how they might implement them! It seems that there is no pleasing these damn Minecraftians!
Ironically, you have an animated dragon GIF in your signature.

Fake. You copied this from Mojang.
Yeah, it's surely to be fake if he copied that picture from an official Mojang screenshot.

You're assuming that Mojang is mentally retarded if you think this is what'll happen. They're proffessionals and they won't break the game. If red dragons are coming, they'll be a new boss mob, not tamable. I don't agree with horses, but that didn't break the game. And Jeb didn't add it to service fans, he did it because he said he was going to a long time ago and finaly got around to it.
I see, peoples not liking the idea of Dragons in MInecraft beacuse:
1 - Do not fit Minecraft
2 - Players would ruin servers, griefing and killing players
What if they make them rare and hard to tame? Even because Mesas are hard to find. Also, making them peaceful Mobs would fix the 2nd problem.
I like the idea of adding dragons. It would be very cool fly over Extreme Hills pinnacles...

How about:
1. You cannot tame them.
2. They are neutral towards you unless you attack them, get too close to their eggs or steal their possessions.
3. They very rarely go on a rampage where they kill mobs (not the player or their tamed animals) and start forest fires.
4. Do not look exactly like the Enderdragon
5. Do not destroy every bloody block in sight like the Enderdragon.
Their lair will contain:
1. Treasures
2. Their eggs
And perhaps they may appear wondering around in strongholds as well? Also, I wouldn't see size as being much of a problem as the Minecraft world is spectacularly large.
Yeah, where is it written that dragons, if they're going to be included, will be tamable and ridable? They can simply be aggressive, untamable and unridable mobs, chasing and burning the player on sight and located in some isolated biomes. We could even have dragon lairs to be structures so that, like the witch, would be spawned only once per lair. Would it ruin the Minecraft experience? I doubt it.
In fact, it would be nice to have dragons actually, and not just because of my nickname. It lacks of flying enemies. There's only the Ghast in the Nether, the Wither that we can summon, obviously the Enderdragon in The End (though the last two are bosses, not mobs) and that's all. Maybe it could be some kind of mini-boss?
Whatever, nothing has been confirmed and it even doesn't mean that's going to happen. Just wait & see. In the meantime, if you want tamable dragons, just download the Dragon Mount Mod from barracuda and voila...
Maybe they'll make it so that you can fight the Ender Dragon again without ruining mob traps?

Way to freak out y'all. I mean seriously, Mojang "trolls" us with one pic of some blobby ovalish black thing stuck in a hole in some mesa with a hidden Elmo skin lurking nearby and the first thing we jump to is that Mojang is breaking Minecraft by adding rideable cherry cakes that will rain down frosting destruction upon our precious blocky world?! OMG! I can't believe nobody but me can see the obvious. Mojang is finally adding the Flying Spaghetti Monster into Minecraft and finding him will turn you into a pirate, thus reducing global warming. Not to mention the stripper factories and beer volcanoes. Well done, Mojang! ^-^

Ahoy, Oh Great and Mighty Flying Spaghetti Monster! Touch us with Thine Noodly Appendages! Let us glory in your great and wondrous meaty balls! May your holy beer volcano be everlasting and your stripper factory be without end. RAmen!!
I don't understand why the people here think that their assumptions are correct, we have yet to even hear about the red dragon other than what was said long ago. The last thing Jeb said was that he was going to add them, but didn't know how to. He didn't say he wasn't going to add them, talked about what the red dragon would do, or showed what it would look like and do. Jesus...
I was replying to that person who whinged about them being big, I assumed he was referring to them flying in the Overworld for some reason.
Forest fires can already happen by lightning storms and lava flow, so I think adding dragon-triggered forest fires won't make much of a different. Just as a very rare occurrence.
By mobs, I mean spiders in particular and during the night they may rarely attack other aggressive mobs. If it would be so that they would attack you after you attacked them, then that would make them neutral, not passive.
So, we're still arguing over dragons in this one, not even thinking that the egg was simply put there using the /setblock command which is a rather new thing in Minecraft, and used both as a rare block and to give the person a sense of scale of the new biome they're showing off...
ah, well, I tried.
I really hope that's sarcasm.

Are you kidding me?!?!??!?! THAT CAKE IS OP!
Or they took "easter egg" to a whole new level.. Either way, it means nothing (for now).
