As you all know, 1.6 and 1.6.1 updates were released recently.
This added many new features such as horses and carpet.
But, is 1.6 and 1.6.1 worth playing on?
Sprinting has been made server-side meaning your sprint will lag much more than if it were client side.
(Higher the server lag, higher your sprint lag)
The pvp community is suffering horribly because of this.
Remember working real hard to make diamond armor? All armor has been nerfed significantly. Your diamond armor is about as strong as iron armor in 1.5.2.
Yay horses! Or maybe not? If a server crashes then all horses and donkeys that were in loaded chunks will despawn!
Unhappy cow pokes are losing their horses because servers crash from time to time.
This was a very unreliable update with many glitches and bad choices.
Q: "Oh but dude what about those over-powered diamond killers? I like the new armor!"
A: Oh, you must mean the people who went mining for hours to find their diamonds. You are going to have people who have been there longer than you on a server no matter where you go. Diamond swords are also way too overpowered as of 1.6.1 update.
Q: Hey shamanious stfu give Mojang time to fix their bugs.
A: How about Mojang actually test their updates before releasing them. How could they miss horses despawning when a server crashes? Did they test the update at all? This wasn't some hard to find dupe
glitch, at least I could understand why they missed that.
Q: Shamanious we all have to deal with this update and its bugs and unliked additions. Get over it.
A: How about I'm an unhappy Minecraft player seeing his favorite game get worse with every update.
How about I'm an unhappy Minecraft player seeing his favorite pvp game getting worse and worse.
How about I'm an unhappy Minecraft player who is only trying to help Minecraft.
People were very excited for horses and so was I, but now we have a bunch of missing named horses with many unhappy players and many servers trying to figure out what is wrong.
Lots of people whined about previous combat changes and whatnot, but they got used to it eventually. Not saying I like the change, but I think it's just something we'll have to get used to.

Well, I guess if Mojang wants to ruin Minecraft and put the spotlight on their other games, who am I to say differently, I don't make the game, I just play it.

Welcome to the forums. Just too bad it was with a post that _every_ single update have seen.
Try to learn the new game mechanics (not for a couple of days, give it a week or two) before complaining.

Well it has been a couple of days and it still sucks. PvP was much more balanced during 1.5.2.

"A couple of days"!
I'm not trying to be rude here but I've been around for so long, and I've seen the kind of reaction like yours, SO many times.
Give it a chance, ok?
This game is now a joke. They think nerfing the player makes the game more fun, it doesn't. They think skeletons with knockback bows and full enchanted armor makes the game more fun, it doesn't. They think horses being unable to swim balances them, it doesn't. They think horses are a late game item and no crafting recipes for horse items adds difficulty, it adds tedium. They think nerfing gold apples adds difficulty, it adds monotony. I could go on, but I won't.
Mojang doesn't care that much about Minecraft, they're rolling in dough and their priorities are Scrolls, monetization and eliminating pirates. Notch all but quit (why dev when you're filthy rich?), the game is pretty much left to Soupbone, as babbys first game, and Jeb and Grum.
Anyone who watched UHC would know DB is not qualified to be developing PvE or PvP aspects of the game.
I was kind of wondering if it was just me and this brand new comp. or what, but yes I am having the same issue with the sprinting and lag freezing up. And yeah lots don't like it when you complain because Im a complainer too, but hey F it right especially when you pay for a game that's supposed to be what you pay for yet they do updates that make it pretty much unplayable. Wahhhhhh its not their fault its so tough and hard for them to do coding and blah blah blah. I just want to be able to play Minecraft again and enjoy it without any BS issues.

I have been around just as long as you perhaps longer. I have seen all the reactions and given quite a few.
I gave it a chance and it is terrible. I pvp just fine. It is the new players that will be having major problems. They get all happy making their diamond armor then some guy with a sharp 1 diamond sword comes from behind, hits them 8 times (5 with STR 1 potion) and there goes all their hard earned diamond armor. Diamond armor was so strong in 1.5.2 because it was so hard to get. It is as if Minecraft is complying with the x-rayers. "Oof better make diamond armor weaker so people can kill hackers easier!" Oh right, forcefield.
The sprinting SUCKS. Other than that, since I don't play on normal servers (I only play mini games on servers), I really don't care that much. And by the way, for you're sword point, it makes a difference in PvE. It desn't doesn't destroy the point, just make you a sad, weak, pathetic steve fighting some skeletons. Ok, maybe I exagaterated, but you get the point.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Um, pretend this is a really cool signature, OK?
I'll give you a free nothing if you do!
Since the Sprintingis server side(sprint lag), that means the closer you are to the server the less laggy it will be but for people who go on servers halfway around the world from them it means when doing parkour it will be practically impossable.
I dislike the sprinting, and as for PvP I can't complain because I don't PvP at all. Horses not being able to swim is really stupid, just as the nametags they made are really stupid. Same goes for not being able to craft a saddle or a nametag.
Regardless, Minecraft isn't fun anymore. They need to add something worth getting. Frankly it's the same, get diamonds, build a nice city/house and then what? Defeat the wither and the End Dragon? What happens if you don't like the fighting aspect.
I just think they need something to make the game fun. The only thing we have are mods, which most of the amazing ones are starting to die down.
It never said in the change log about nerfing armor, and I just checked Minecraft Wiki and the last entry in the "Armor" changelog was in 1.5; right clicking to put it on. As for the sprint lag, that will be fixed very, very soon in 1.6.2. About the overpowered swords, the last entry on that history was not being able to break blocks in creative on 1.6, and there were no other changes for 1.6. As for any other bugs you mentioned, most of them were probably already reported, and 1.6.2 is just like 1.6.1 w/out most of the bugs that came with it. Try to do some reaserch on what you say in the future, please?
If you want to leave the updates, stay in 1.5.1 forever for all I care! Get off the game if you think it stinks! I don't care how, just leave!
This is what I have wanted to say ever since Beta 1.8.

Filthy rich!?! Notch left to work on Scrolls! Mojang is not "The Minecraft Company" ! They have other games! This makes me angry to see all of you ungrateful people get free updates forever and think that they must be perfect and that only they are the most important people of the game! You are not. Leave now if you think the game sucks!

I have to agree, at the risk of being flamified. Mojang is one of the most profitable companies currently in the gaming industry, and one of the only PC game designers making money. The size of their development team is unacceptable given the money they have, and there is apparently no dedicated SQA team for bug testing. They appear to be raking in the money of a company like Rovio or Rockstar, but running the company as if it were a corner deli operated by a single elderly grandpa.
It's time to suit up, Mojang. Less plushies, and more code reviews. It's been two whole decimal releases and they still haven't fixed key bugs like minecart stutter or random chunk loss. It's a slap in the face to the loyal fans who made these guys bajillionaires, and who turned words like Notch and Dinnerbone into rock star names.
I've never seen a company so willing to emulate all the bad aspects of Microsoft, and desire to share the same reputation as Steve Ballmer.

ProTip: Revert armor back to its original protection OR weaken sword strength.
Q: But making swords weaker defeats the purpose of making armor weaker!
A: Now people with no armor on can live a bit longer. At least with this they have more time to escape.
