IMO 1.6 is one of the worst updates to date. It has the most bugs of any update as I can recall, and most of the stuff it adds isn't even necessary. Also, forget adding new, random, semi useless stuff like they've relied on in the past few updates, I think they should work on refining the stuff they already have, like adding colored glass a d making more uses for semi unuseable items such as gunpowder, slime balls, or sponge. Also, what's with the new zombie thing? It just makes it incredibly hard for first timers and is just annoying for pros. I mean, zombies don't have a lot of attacking power to begin with. So these hordes can't kill you much but they are an annoyance. They should have buffed a less common mob like cave spiders or silver fish and just upped the spawn rate for both. 1.6 is a bad update all in all, it created a lot more bugs and trouble than its worth.
I disagree greatly with everything.
You're saying everything about it is bad, when you never mention the good stuff about it like horses, carpets, and other items.
> New launcher just causes problems; everybody hates it
No, it doesn't. A good majority of what was done in this update was to improve the Mod API when it is eventually released. The launcher is very helpful for those that switch between versions constantly, like myself, because some servers are slow to update to the new version. The only "bad" thing about it is that aesthetically, it's a bit lacking, but that can be improved. Also, seeing the console is very useful for myself, as I know no other way to see it.
> Carpet = Wool
Yeah no. A key difference is that Carpet doesn't burn, and can be placed on transparent blocks. (hoppers, glowstone, signs (?)) Useful for all sorts of things.
none of those were good reasons
name one good use for a carpet wow it can be placed on glowstone like i give a crap
also the launcher looks retarded its the first thing people see it should look nice (like 1.5.2's which was 9 times easier to use)
luck is not a real thing if you can't find food your a noob there is grass all over animals are easy to find spawn in a world i can find them in 1 minute or less
so your telling me your just starve to death every time you play.........really
if your talking about servers its not luck people just killed them before you got on
1.6 is NOT the worst update. Leads are not useless and slimeballs aren't either. They also added horses and people wanted them to be added.
wow you know how to use colors people wanted horses but they lag a lot
leads make it really easy to tame animals (a little to easy)
at first it had tons and tons of bugs it was a bad update
and there have been updates with worse bugs then what you guys are saying.
Exactly... 1.2->1.2.5, 1.3->1.3.2, 1.4->1.4.7, 1.5->1.5.2 and now 1.6->1.6.2 so far.
Granted, a few of the versions didn't even make it to public consumption as they did new updates to fix major bugs before pushing it to the public..
One could say that 1.4 was the most recent "worst", requiring 7 updates to get most major bugs sorted out. but really, it took them a month or so to go from 1.4 to a "stable" 1.4.5.. Then they added in the fireworks etc for xmas and that ended up being 1.4.6 and then finally 1.4.7.
Given all they changed, I wouldn't be surprised if 1.6 ends up getting to 1.6.4 or 1.6.5.. Given the new zombie extended pathfinding and horde/social behavior is causing lag on servers, I would expect at LEAST a 1.6.3 release where it gets nerfed, tossed out all together, or hopefuly, "fixed" in some way... But then again, Mojang has a history of just not fixing things they should or making changes to the game that makes it unplayable for some of their customers so I guess we'll see.
Something everyone should keep in mind... You, the paying customer are Mojangs game testers. Professional game development companies have staff in house that play test the game constantly for weeks before a release and feeds the bugs to the developers to fix before it gets out to the public.. Mojang does not... If you don't like the way things work, than that's what you should complain about, after all, it's not like they don't have the money to hire people to do that. But, they like to hold onto their "indie" game developer moniker and that's the price that has to be paid.
Uhhhhh.... Horses, name tags, coal block, hay bale, horse armor, huge potion nerfs, zombie buffs, leads. Those are the only real MAJOR things added to this update. I know horses rock and all, but really?
They added like 6 new things, then just made the game harder, took a long time, and then came with so many new bugs. I know the bugs were fixed, but they could of added more stuff.
In the beginning, the update was actually called the mob update (I think), but then was changed due to lack of new mobs added.
Like look at the 1.4 update. So many things were added, like wither, anvils, beacons, and other stuff that are essential to the game now. Like how did we repair a used fortune pick before anvils. I know that horses might be great for adventuring, but they are so buggy, I find it easier to enderpearl everywhere instead.

Pretty no one are Mojang called it the Mob Update.
The 1.6 update contains things that we anticipated for a long time now, including Mod API and horses. I personally don't find anything wrong with the update other than how the modding process was made a lot more complicated.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Hmm... no diamonds here. Maybe I should look underground?"
Okay, I'm just gonna say, I like the blocks that have been added in 1.6. However, everything else seems useless to people who want to make adventure maps, like myself...especially the zombie-spawning-zombie thing. And as for bugs? Well, I'm sure others have discovered the sprint lag, and there's another one: when a player sits on a donkey(or horse, not sure) and puts a saddle on it the first time, the player's POV flips.
If you're a mapmaker, and you have the right tools, then you shouldn't have to worry about the zombies spawning more zombies because it is an attribute that can be modified with things such as MCEdit and Ingame NBTEdit.

so you don't lag one bit really really every one lags thank you also zombies swarm now you think thats fun?
nothing wrong ummmmm just named 2 things bet you have no come backs
I think the important thing that were forgetting here is that minecraft is getting more and more complex by the second, and that notch can release herobrine whenever he wants: don't make him mad!
noob much he does not own the game any more and lots of people would quit if he added him
jeb owns the game
How 'bout no. And the new resource packs which are being slowly built in will be a massive convenience for modding.
you didn't say anything good about the update only one thing no back up so it still sucks come up with some evidence and i might believe you that this is a good update it made every one lag and added about 6 items wow and it took like forever

It's not that simple. All the servers we play on have updated so we have no choice.
You're saying everything about it is bad, when you never mention the good stuff about it like horses, carpets, and other items.
You suck.

And Mojang will maybe add a Bugfix update.
P.S. Every game has bugs.Nobody is mistakeless.

Oh, and just to let you guys know, I still hate "The Merge".
Praise be to Spode.
Source? You have no idea what it will do, don't make assumptions.
Did I miss something?
