I'm also having the same troubles. The part of Mojang that works on Minecraft is aware of this, but Grum stated on the Atlassian bug list that they couldn't fix it. Although, they can fix it. If minecraft worked with Intel before, it can work after.
This insane drop of FPS has also rendered Minecraft unplayable for me, and I have a high end computer. All we can do is hope for the best and wait until they fix this. (Sadly, if they even do fix it) I really want to enjoy this update, but I am forced to use 1.5.1.
But there is still hope:
Mojang cant just release that Minecraft no longer works with Intel graphics. I'm pretty sure at least 1/6 of the community's graphics cards are Intel. They would be rushed with complaints and would be a major letdown for the whole community, and might even make it onto gaming social media. They would loose a lot of players if a disaster like this took its place even farther.
It is even hard to tell if they will even attempt to fix this issue. All we can do is complain and hope that they will. They might abandon it and say that it's not fixable and rely on the community to come up with a fix. All we can do is hope.
Oh, and if anyone is trying to add minecraft in Nvidia, Its not named Minecraft. Its named "javaw".
I honestly hope they do something. I can't play minecraft like this.
I'll just leave it at this(People with Intel cards). The problem has been brought to the attention of mojang and found out that the problem does indeed occur more with intel cards. With the new launcher it runs mc on a new process instead of the same one.
It's like this
Minecraft Launcer>>Minecraft(On new process)
What happens is intel cards do not see that new minecraft process as a 3d application so it severely cripples your fps like most people have been complaining. All we can do is wait until mojang finds a fix for this issue.People have issues with other cards all I can say is you have another issue.
It must either be your computer, or your texture pack because I am running the new launcher with no lag.
As previously stated, it is neither the computer, nor the texture pack at fault. The problem has been definitively confirmed to be how the new launcher deals with Minecraft, resulting in a conflict with video graphics. We've found fixes for people with a separate dedicated graphics card, and I've found and posted some tweaks that offer SOME help for people with only Intel integrated graphics cards.
I had this problem too. Just download the newest version of offline java and it should work. When 1.6 came out I was lagging really bad so I downloaded the Java Compiler because I was thinking about making a mod that could stop alot of lag. But when I downloaded the java compiler it updated my 64-bit of Java and my Minecraft is running alot faster now!
Note: Also if that doesn't fix the problem update your graphics driver. I recently updated mine and i'm not sure if it helped or not, but if your graphics driver contains a update to OpenGL and other video options then it might help.

Are you using an intel card or a different card?
