Seriously? I read these comments and people say it's too hard now.
I think Minecraft should be zombie survival, what it is now, and people who complaing about the difficulty now;
It's the best feature in Minecraft now.
I want my playing to be scary and hard. Not easy and peaceful. 1.4 was peaceful, but now, 1.6 is now the hard and scary.
Before you didn't need to build a base to survive a night. Just stay under a tree and you will be fine. But now... it is hard. You HAVE to have a shelter...
I love the update.
I completley disagree.
The meaning of minecraft is as plane as the nose on your face.
Its not about killing zombies 24/7! Its about mining and crafting, of course there are mobs and its your choice weither you want to go kill them.
but, The percentage of us want to sleep and make it day again.
But its just an opinion.
Cheers,
Jason
P.S
Im really sorry about my spelling, punchuation, grammar im on my tiny phone its just sooo hard to type
I always did that. What I did during the day:
I chopped 1 tree down, mined stone and stayed under a tree until day and started building It was WAY TOO EASY [and yes, I did play in Hard]
I think again Minecraft should be zombie survival [it is now] I love Minecraft now. Zombies are the most common mob in the game, and now even more commoner.
Well,
Ya know of you want to play zombie survival there are some pretty cool servers out there, And... It was only my opinion.

I have no problem with people that want to play "zombie horde survival" in Minecraft.
What I do have a problem with is the developers forcing this on everyone that plays, since not everyone wants that. There are so many other things to do in the game that being forced to spend so much time just dealing with the mobs seems ridiculous to the rest of us. And it's not just zombies. The new skeleton AI, the new way food regen works (which, I actually like), etc. are all things that make the game less fun for people that DON'T want Minecraft to be "Super Monster Killer Extreme". Implementing all these new "difficulty" features without actually tying them to the difficulty settings is beyond idiotic, and I really hope Mojang realizes this soon.

Exactly. There's plenty of mods and modded servers available for the more veteran players that want stuff like this. They really didn't need to add this stuff in at all to the vanilla game, but even so, I wouldn't have had a problem with them adding it in anyway, had they just limited it to the Hard difficulty setting.

I think something that a lot of the folks calling for the complete removal of the zombie-horde behavior are missing is those of us that like it certainly don't think of it as "survival horror". Minecraft isn't horrifying and never will be. There is a portion of the playerbase, myself included, that really enjoy having to work around challenging mechanics. The fun for me has always been to "break the game" in the sense of mastering mechanics and taking advantage of them.
However, the majority of articulate posts that aren't just slandering people that play differently all seem to have a common solution:
We need a difficulty overhaul.
If some of us like things hard and some of like things more peaceful (but obviously not "peaceful"), why not make different gamemodes? Everyone plays Minecraft for their own reasons and everyone one plays Survival for their own reasons. I just don't understand how it would be difficult to implement a couple of switches that dial some more numbers around so we can set up each game world to suit how we want to play it. The difficulty settings as they currently sit are pretty pathetic in my humble opinion.
So here is what I really think we should do: Instead of arguing about how Minecraft was meant to be, or how "the majority" of people supposedly play it, we need to create a formal solution to how we want the difficulty menu to work. Personally, I would advocate for a new gametype that locks the game on Hard with all the new zombie crazy-ness for people like me and leave the existing gametype alone along with reworking the Easy/Normal/Hard to also toggle the zombie behavior.
IMO, "Hardcore" is named incorrectly as a gametype and it really restricts using plain english to describe a future gamemode that is just harder, not perma-death. The perma-death gamemode should be renamed to something like "rogue-like" or simply, "perma-death". In fact, why can't this simply be another choice we make in world creation? Perma-Death Yes/No.

I'd like everyone's opinions.
You, sir, deserve many, many upvotes. I agree with everything you said.
Somebody should make a mod, until Mojang does something about this.
"You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day"
Exactly; IMO, all the "harder" balances should be put in hard mode while "easy" balances go into easy mode. Whereas (the mode I personally play) normal should be the happy medium and maintain both features changed to reflect the bridge between difficulty. All the regen, potion, and apple nerfs along with the zombie buffs play around too much with this difficulty line. The meal was given to everyone when not everyone wants it; and those who don't want it to be forced to them.

How many times must we say, MAKE IT VARY BY DIFFICULTY LEVEL!!! If you like the new zombies so much, you can have them ON HARD or HARDCORE ONLY, and let the rest of us have OUR game back!!
I think something that a lot of the folks calling for the complete removal of the zombie-horde behavior
I don't see ANYONE calling for complete removal, only that it be scaled to difficulty level.
We need a difficulty overhaul.

If they really want Minecraft to be a "fun for all ages" sort of game, then the difficulty settings really need to actually mean something (which they honestly don't anymore).
It used to be that I could play Minecraft and show it to some of my more "non-gaming" friends, and have them be interested enough to say, "That looks neat, maybe I'd like to play that game." But if I showed it to them now, after one zombie-filled night of continuous hack-and-slash defense, they would respond with "No, that game looks too hard for me."
This new direction Minecraft is going in is killing the game for new players (especially casuals). And given that new players are Mojang's only source of revenue for Minecraft, they are totally shooting themselves in the foot with these changes. They are alienating the only people that are going to be giving them more money, while catering only to people that have already paid them. A 5-year-old could tell you that that's a monumentally stupid way to run a business.
Have any of you guys considered that this is just one of many small changes that will shape the difficulty of Minecraft? Some of the zombie features are tied to difficulty, so what's the problem? If the game is too hard for you, you may need to change the difficulty setting to accommodate the higher overall challenge.
The new changes have made the game seem very different all of a sudden, less casual than before. I guess that's the thing though, the game was always casual, even on hard; if anything Mojang are creating a greater variance in difficulty. I imagine the next update will follow on in the same vein. I guess we're just feeling the sting of these rather harsh changes because nothing has been released for a while, and the devs mustn't see the need for change as they could've released 1.6.3 to address any issues.
And even the things that are tied to difficulty aren't consistent.
Being able to more reliably farm zombie pigmen in the overworld for gold? Better on harder difficulty.
Being able to get better loot drops from mobs to conserve resources? More reliable on harder difficulty.
Definitely need a difficulty overhaul, but we also need a massive bug fix overhaul. It might be nice if they just take a deep breath and start thinking about a Bugfix and Balance Update.

Yes. This, completely. I would gladly support such a suggestion (as I suspect most would). Make easy mode actually easy, and either make hard mode even harder or add more difficulty levels. Perhaps even a "realistic" mode - no mobs, but with hunger (I know a couple people have wanted this in the past), or an insane mode where boss mobs are rare spawns.
The trouble is, how do we go about getting the idea heard? The suggestions forum is where good ideas go to die, and attempts at contacting Dinnerbone through Reddit or Twitter are bound to be drowned out by the illiterate zealots on both sides...
Exactly! I was playing minecraft with a friend and we were like is it on peaceful ? we checked nope... we were like eh no big deal just a server glitch or something and we were on his server. we made abase and things and went Enderman hunting in the desert. We all know Mobs Spawn like crazy in the desert. I knew about the zombies but forgot. We went into the desert and got at least 15 5 and 2 . It wasn't fun at all so we went on god mode and got the pearls and in the morning we got off god. then we found the end portal and killed the dragon. I don't like that.... D:

They spawn in protected villages too. It's annoying as hell.

Easy: Only spawn in 0-2 light level
Medium: Spawn in 0-8 light level

Zombie hordes = FPS
Because they're NOT tied to difficulty. Apparently they're supposed to be, but they're not. THAT is the problem!
