Sources please. You say that things have been promised but for instance, wasn't the Red Dragon from the days of Notch? Jeb and Dinnerbone control game content now I believe.
Some scattered birds in the sky and fish for the ocean would help a bit. One of the biggest things I look forward to is leads. That's about as versatile for maps as hoppers were for the redstone update.
They're working with Dr.Zhark so you would theink they'd add his birds, fish too! I mean, they already added bats so why not?
But there's still hope, they're taking their sweet time with this update, which in my opinion is a good thing!
Maybe they'll add a little something extra when we least expect it... but for now the only "little somtin extra" we have is skeleton and zombie horses..
pretty (decorative things like clay flower pots, item frames, and cobble fence blocks) scary (withers! Witches!)
Yes, but that's really two separate themes, isn't it? Which leads to the possiblity of 1.6 being the "<Unrelated Theme Adjective> Horse Update", rather than something like the "Mob Update". Painted Horse Update.
1.6 isn't over yet by a long shot, as far as I know. Mojang's been busy over the past couple weeks with getting Scrolls ready to release, and due to the new attribute system, dinnerbone's been preoccupied finishing that as well as fixing the various bugs the transition has caused. Also, as far as I know, 1.6 was never formally announced to be the mob update. This was pretty much an idea that formed due to community speculation, and I don't think the term "Mob Update" has even been formally used by Mojang at any time. Yes, they did mention mobs for 1.6 at Minecon, but as far as I know horses were the only ones to have been confirmed. If anything, I think its more of the Decoration Update, seeing as it adds 30+ new decoration blocks, between the 15 types of stained clay and the 15 types of carpet.
Before you say 1.6 does really sucks have a second thought, mojang is still releasing more snapshots, it means it got a lot of updates and upgrades and moar, and also don't be mad to mojang if they didn't added visible fishes and birds because someday mojang will add it.
I guess your right. 1.6 snapshots have only being showing us useless additions. It starts to feel as Mojang is just trying to add as many additions as possible/
However, can you imagine yourself being the Mojang guy? Programming all the mobs? Fixing all the bugs?
They ARE human after all!P.S
How do you know 1.7 is the Biome update?

It's really sad that every time there's an update, someone will ALWAYS cry like a baby because the updates weren't what THEY wanted. There's a a lot of people (including big names such as Bdubs and GennyB) who love horses, and 99% of the Minecraft community loves them. For the people crying, shut the hell up and stop being ungrateful little children. Be happy with the things Mojang does release for Minecraft, and be happy we get any updates at all.
Hey, don't hate on the colored clay. I think it will be a great addition. Not everything looks too swell with the wool texture, and the colors of the clay vary just a tad from the wool, so artists can make more realistic and detailed things.
As for the Red Dragon, I think it would have had to have been something they added at the same time as the Nether, because you can't just take something that everyone has gotten used to, and then add a boss like that. Unless it isn't going to be a boss and just a regular mob, but that would be pretty lame.
If they made a brand new biome and then added the red dragon, it would be a thousand times better. I doubt that will happen though, and unless it is the Aether, I don't really want a new biome.
I don't know how anyone can be unhappy with an update that hasn't even been released, and I'm actually VERY excited about the mob items, leads especially, also I cant wait for horses, because using carrot on a stick to lead a pig around for no reason doesn't really do me any good. I also am excited about the new decorative items.
I do like most of this update, but some of the finer details of horses bug me. 2 in particular.
First off, saddles not being craftable. I get "making dungeon loot more interesting" but this is a horrible solution. I dont get how steve could make automated doors, tnt, fitting armor, dispensers, books, but cant make a shaped bit of leather. I dont care if the recipe takes a diamond, leather or even slime (though ive found very few slimes at all) just as long as the option to craft is there.
Next, picking items from horseback off the ground is not only horribly unrealistic ( off, theres good and bad realism) but this makes item snatching a much more viable form of griefing. And is getting off for 2 seconds to collect items that much of a pain? And most games have limited abilities on mounts (cars horses jets whatever) yet the horses only downside seems to be tight spaces. Just seems like an odd balance thing if navigation in tight spaces is the only disadvantage.. maybe less agility? (Agility, not speed) that way doing a 180 will take a second, and wont be instant. Real horses are like that, and it would make sense for a large frame to be a bit less agile.
Well i guess thats 3 but i like the update besides those things. Colored clay means possibly more colored stuff?

Personally I don't feel the additions we're seeing are useless - some of these things have been floating around as suggestions for a very long time. It's nice to see them finally making their way into the game, that Mojang is starting to open up to the idea of expanding the game's content beyond the original framework. I haven't seen a single thing I dislike since Bukkit started working with them.

Then the Sky Army would go mad because they wouldn't talk trash.
